To all whom 'it may concern.'

, Be it known that I, DANIEL NIEMAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Seward, in the District of Alaska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet-Boxes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to toilet articles, and more particularly to a receptacle for containing soap, tooth brush, comb and other accessories.

It has for its object to provide such a receptacle of economical construction, which will retain a tooth brush and comb therein in a novel manner against rattling.

Another object is to provide a brush and comb engaging means of particularly novel construction.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, and it will be understood that changes in the specific structure shown and described may be made within the scope of the claims, and that any suitable materials may be used without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the drawings forming a portion of this specification, and in which like characters of reference indicate similar parts in the several views ,-Figure 1 is a top view of the box, in open position, Fig. 2 is a cross section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1, Fig. 4i is a bottom view of the lid. Fig. 5 is a cross section of the lid on the line 5-5 of Fig. 4:.

Referring to the drawings, there is shown a box A including a bottom 10 having side portions 11 engaged therewith in a suitable manner, and having a soap box 12 detachably engaged within the box as will be subsequently described, a comb receiving space 13, and a brush receiving space 111.

The walls 11 are provided with an indented continuous groove 15 spaced close to the upper edge thereof, being pressed inwardly from the outer side of the wall. A lid 16 is provided for the box, which is provided with a pendent flange 17 having an inwardly pressed rib 18 therearound, adapted to snap into the groove 15 when the top is pressed downwardly upon the box.

Centrally of the lid, at opposite sides, the rib 18 is discontinued, a finger receiving depression 19 being formed adapted for the engagement of the thumb and finger for disengagement of the lid from the box with facility.

Spaced closely adjacent the front wall 11 of the box, there .is a comb engaging partition 2O comprising a strip of resilient sheet metal having its lower edge portion turned laterally as at 21, and secured against the floor of the box in a suitable manner, and having a longitudinally extending rounded rib 22 adjacent its upper edge and opposed io the inwardly depressed portion 15 of the The partition 20 is provided with inwardly stamped S shaped tongues Q3, extending downwardly and adapted to engage resiliently against a comb when forced between the partition and the adjacent wall 11 to hold the comb yieldably against the wall 11 to prevent rattling thereof. The opposed portions 15 and 22 serve to engage the upperportion of the comb to hold it against casual disengagement :from the space 123.

Centrally of the partition Q0, there is a suitable notched or outwardly bent portion 24 adapted to allow the engagement of the comb by a finger for its removal.

Oppositely of the comb receiving space, there is a partition 30 similar to the one 20, with the exception that spaced from one end, the rib 22 is discontinued, the partition is extended laterally inward of the box, and thence longitudinally to the end of the box forming an enlarged bristle receiving portion 31. The partition 30 is provided with a laterally turned base flange 33 similar to that on the partition 20, and secured to the base of the box A in a suitable manner. A soap box B is detachably engaged within the box A, and comprises a base portion 35 having a wall portion 36 similar in cross section to the partitions 20 and 30, a rib 37 formed in spaced relation with the upper edge of the wall 3G of the soap box engaging resiliently in the convexity of the outer iace of the partitions 20 and 30 formed by the portion 22. Thus it will be seen that the box B may be removed, at any time for cleansing, without disturbing the contents of the box A.

Carried by the inner side of the lid 1G, and registering with the center of the box B when in position, there is a helical spring 38 carrying a soap engaging plate 39 at its lower end concave on its lower face, and having its opposite edges turned upwardly. The plate is intended to engage resiliently against soap contained in the box B to prevent rattling Vit against the adjacent Vdisposed detachably thereof, the plate being so shape'd'as not to cut or injure the soap in any way.v

It will be seen that a tooth brush may be engaged in the space 14 gaging resiliently against the handle to press wall 11, the rib 22 engaging thereabove to retain it against accidental displacement, and the tongue 23 engaging upwardly against the handle, and coacting with the rib 22 toprevent rattling thereof.

It will be noted that the ribs 22 are discontinued a spaced distance from the end adjacent the soap box, forming a slight ridge 40 adapted to prevent the sliding movement of the box B toward the center of the box A.

The space within the box between the partitions 20 and 30 is adapted for use to contain tooth powder' and other accessories of the toilet.

Suitable notches 41 are provided at the upper edges of the walls 1l at opposite sides of the box for the engagement therein of the depression 19.

What is claimed is 1. An article of the class described comprising a receptacle, comprising a base and a. circumscribing wall portion, a partition secured therewithin and spaced adjacent the wall at one side of the receptacle, said partition being formed of resilient sheet material and having its Lipper edge portion pressed to form a rib extending toward the adjacent wall portion of the'receptacle for engagement against a toilet article disposed between the partition and the wall, a similar partition disposed adjacent the wall on the opposite side of the receptacle, said second named partition having a pressed portion and a lateral extension forming an enlarged Vbrush receiving space, a soap receiving box within theV receptacle, said box having an outwardly extending rib formed adjacent its upper edge and adapted for snapping engagement in the pressed porthe partition 30 eni tion of the partitions, and a closure for the receptacle.

2. in article of the class described comprising a receptacle, comprising a base -and a circumscribing wall portion, a partition secured therewithin and spaced adjacent the wall at one side of the receptacle, said partition being formed of resilient sheet material and having its upper edge portion pressed to form a rib extending toward the adjacent Wall portion of the receptacle for engagement against a toilet article disposed between partition disposed adjacent the wall on the opposite side of the receptacle, said second named partition having a pressed portion and a lateral extension forming an enlarged brush receiving space, a soap receiving box disposed detachably within the receptacle, said box having an outwardly extending rib formed adjacent its upper edge and adapted for snapping engagement in the pressed portion of the partitions, a closure for the receptacle, a pendent box engaging flange, and a resiliently supported soap engaging space carried inwardly thereof and adapted to project into the soap box to engage a cake of soap therein to prevent rattling thereof.

3. In a device of the class described, the combination with a receptacle having a base and circumscribing wall portions, of resilient members disposed in spaced relation with the wall portions and adapted to cooperate therewith in retentive engagement upon a toilet article, and a supplemental receptacle detachably coengaged between the resilient members within the first named` receptacle.
