Like letters designatelike parts in all the figures. v The nature of my inventionconsists- Firstfin-provid-ingthe .breech-pin with -two-stops near its rear end, to prevent injury to the trigger-bolt or the slot of the v.breech-pin, during the operationof opening or closing.
Second, in formingI the breech-piece with a projection or block on its lunderside, to take the shock of the recoil, and to give the tri gger-bolt, which passes through it, more bearing-surface. k
To enable those skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
I-n-the drawing- A represents the stock, to which the breech-piece B is secured.
Inside of the breech-piece is the slidingl breech-pin C, in which is a slot of the same construction, and for the same purpose, as shown in my patent dated June 29, 1869.
Near the rear end of the breech-pin, and opposite each other, are two quarter-segments, a a, which project beyond the periphery of the breech-pin, and in these segments are vscrewthreads, which fit into corresponding screwtlneads on the inside of the breechpiece B.
On the periphery'of the breech-pin, and between the screw-segments a aand the handle C', are two stops,'b b', which are located. opposite each other.
In the top of the breech-piece B is an opening, which is closed by a sliding cover, D, when the piece is in po'- sition to be discharged. This cover is on .top of the breech-pin C, and slides in a recess in the under side of the top of'the rear end of the breech-piece.
As the breech-pin is turned, either to' the right or.
left, the stops b or b' will strike against the edges of the sliding cover D, thereby limiting the extent of the turning of the breech-pin, thus preventing injury to the trigger-bolt, or t0 the slot in the breech-pin.
On the underside of the breech-piece Bis a projection, B', in which is an aperturefor the trigger-bolt E. This projcctioniits into a recess, of corresponding form, in the stock f -lIeretofox-e,` therehas been aprojecton on theun der side of the rear end of the barrel, to take the shock of the recoil; but the advantages of placing it on the breech-piece are, that it prevents it, and its connecting parts, from being loosened by the shock of the discharge, and also gives a' larger bearing-surface, and a sure guide to the trigger-bolt.
F4 is a tiring-pin, of the same construct-ion as that used in my patent before referred to, withthe exception that the spindle portion F is fluted or grooved, as is also the trigger-bolt E, the object of this being to make it self-lubricating and self-cleaning' as it is'operated.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is#- 1. The stops b l1' on thc' breech-pin, when constructed and operated substantially as and for the purpose shown and described.
