To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, Elmer H. l-lonnsrsm, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Sven- Doors; and I do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,'sucl1 as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

lily invention r lates to irnproveznentsin doors for ovens such as are adaptable for use on the ovens of ranges or gas stoves or for portable ovens,the object of the invention being to provide a door structure having a transparent panel and to secure said panel in place in such manner that it will be protected from breakage due to unequal expansion and contraction of parts;

With this object in View the invention consists in certain novel features of constrnction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and claims. v

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a door embodying my improvements, Fig. 2 is a rear View, Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section and Fig. l is a face view of the plate 16 and the glass panel.

1 represents the main frame of the door and consists of a casting provided at its lower corners with pintles 2 by means of which the door can be hinged to the front plate of an oven. The upper nieniberof the frame 1 is made intermediate of its length with an enlarged portion 3 which forms a seat for a bracket 4: and this bracket carries a suitable latch 5 and a handle 6 to operate said latch and to manipulate the door. The rear face of the frame 1. is provided near its corners and also at intermediate points with bosses 7 having threaded .socketsj8 for the reception of screws. Ledges or'seats' 9 are formed around the-inneredges of the frame 1 for the accommodation of a sheet metal frame 10. This frame 10 may he nrovided at its outer edges with flanges 11 which abut against the intermediate bosses 7, and in this manner the sheet metal frame 10 is held against displacement. The frame 10,is made in its rear face near its inner edges with grooves l2,-'said grooves causing the appearance on the exposed outer face of the sheet metal frame 10, of ribs or heads 13. The sheet metal frame plate 16 is provided near its upper and lower inner edges and near one inner end edge with lugs 18 which projectdn direction toward the sheet metal frame 10 and at their free ends, said lugs are provided with lies 19 which overhang the upper and lower edges and one end of the glass panello.
