Description
@anni dt'yiiw.,
WILLIAM HAWKINS, OF OREGON, MISSOURI.
LettersIatent No. 94,313, dated Augustl, 1869.
,IMPROVED ICE-CREAM FREEZER.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom tt may conce/rn.:
Beit kno that I, WILLIAM HAWKms, of Oregon, in the county of Holt, and State of Missouri,
have invented a new and improved Ice-Cream Freezer and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part ot' this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in ice-cream freezers, designed to make them more effective thanv those now in use.
It consists in providing the holder with a'series of exterior ribs to keep the ice inmotion, and thereby withdraw the heat more readily from the cream.
It also consists in the peculiar construction of the cream-agitator.
Figure l represents a sectional elevation of my improved apparatus, and
Figure 2 represents a horizontal. section ofthe same.
Similar letters of reference vindicate corresponding parts. v
A represents the cream-holder, which I place within a surrounding ice-holder, B, preferably of square form, and I provide it with vertical ribs, C, for agitating the ice as the cream-holder is revolved, to main,- tain the lowest possible degree of'temperature around the said cream-holder. p g
I provide a sleeve-extension, D, from the top of the holder A, rising through the case B, and supporting a gear-Wheel, for imparting rotary motion to the said holder from a driving-wheel, F.
G representsan agitator within the holder A, the
shaft of which rises to the top of the driving-'n heel F,
, and gears therewith by a wheel, H, connected to the top of the said shaft, so as to be readily removed, to permit the driving and supporting apparatus to be lifted off for the removal of the. agitator from the cream-holder, which may be done by taking o' the part I of the lid to which they are attached, and which is connected to the case B by buttons or other detachable means, the upper end of the shaft being loosely supported in the bracket H.
"Ihe part K of the cover is arranged to be opened at any time, as required for lling the case B.
The sleeve D is' connectedto the cover of the cream holder, and the latter is provided with projecting-pins,
L, taking into loops, M, in the sides of the holder, to impart rotation thereto.
The beaters N of the agitator are so shaped rand applied to the shaft as to sweep through all the space of the holder at each revolution, for the more thoroughly agitatin g the cream, and scraping of any part there of adhering to the sides of the holder.
Having thus described my invention,
I .claim as new, and desire to secure .by Letters Patenty The cream-holder A, when provided with the eX- terior longitudinal ribs C, and the irregularly-formed dashers N, as herein described, for the purpose specified.
WVILLIAM HAWKINS;
Witnesses S. W. BURR, Rc1). MARKLAND.
