To all whom it concern:
Be i-t'known that I, ERNEST R. LE MAN- oUars, a citizen of the United-States, residmg in Bellemead, New Jersey, have ina, minimum expenditure of time andlabor.
An'other objectof the invention is to pro- -v1de an inclosing box primarily designed for insertion into an opening or recess in a wall and having its side-members made in a plurality of separable parts in orderto permit of the removal of one or more of such parts when it is desired to remove or replace a bushing or bushings mounted in openings along the lines of separation of the parts comprising each side.
Another object of the invention is to provide a container or cabinet constructed with its side members made each in two separa ble parts and having each part recessed along its line of separation to receive bushings designed either to completely close such recesses or to form insulating supports or carriers for a cable passing throu h them.
I further desire to provide a ca inet for the reception of electrical apparatus, with novel forms of bushings for protecting electri'cal conductors where they enter said cabinet. These'and other advantageous ends I attain as hereinafter set forth, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which: r

In the above drawings A represents the face plate of the cabinet which is provided with an opening capable of being closed by a doorB, hinged in any desired manner to said faceplate.
The box or container proper as indicated at C, consists of end sections 0 and c hav ing between them any desired number of inter'mediarte sections 0 in the present instance, one.
Each end section is provided with a back 0 an end cf and two side portions 0 while each intermediate portion has a back 0 and The end 0 of each of the endil WO sides 0 sections 0 and c, has a removable section?) which, as shown in Flgs. 2, 3 and 4;, 1s confined between the face plate and the main portion of the sections, and is provided with flanges b and 6 whereby it is properly po- I sitioned on the said body. In addition. each of these parts .6 is provided with projecting lugs 6 having screws b* whereby the said part is held to adjacent portions of the body of the end section. Similarly, the side portions of each end section, as well as the side portions of the intermediate section a, are recessed to receive removable plates 1) similar to plateb. "Like it, plate b is provided with positioning flanges and also has lugs whereby it is-held in position between the various portions 0', c' and c and. the face 'plate.-
The inner main edge of each of the removable plates 6 and b is provided with a numbgr of semicircular recesses of any desired dimensions, and the adjacent edge of the end sections or of the side sections as the case may be, is similarly recessed, so that there are formed, when the various parts are assemb1ed,.a number of circular openings through the sides and ends ofthe box. It will be understood that the various sections of this box are held together and to the face plate in any desired manner, though preferably as shown in the patent granted to me No. 782,255, dated Feb. 14, 1905.,
Each of the circular openings is in practice pre'ferablyprovided with a bushing D as shown in'fFig. 6, it it be desired that it shall be completely closed, or on the other hand, if it be desired to provideimeans for the entry of current conductors, a bushing such as that shown at D in Fig. 5, may be provided.
In a case where it is desired to run two on more conductors through one hole in the cabinet and to keep these out of contact with each other to as great an extent as possible, I may employ the forms of bushing shown in Figs. 7 and 8. In these figures D and 3 represent bushings designed for the passage' of two and three conductors respectively and both their inner and outer faces are provided with partitions d and (Z projecting for any desired distance between the openings for the conductors.
In order to permit of the convenient plac ing of electrical conductors in the bushings, these latter may be made in two longitudinally divided sections as shown at D* in Figs. 9 and 10, in which the two sections d and d are provided with lugs for the reception of screws whereby they may be clamped to the armor or insulation of the conductors.
This construction is further shown in Fig. 10 where E represents apiece of the armor or metallic covering 0 a well known form of electrical conductor and which clamped between the two suitably formed sections of the bushing. If desired thebushing may be given any convenient form in order to direct a conductor at an angle other than 90 to the adjacent face of the cabinet. Thus in Fig. 10 I have shown the bushing so formed as to receive a cable running at an angle of 15 to the cabinet face. in any case the bushing is flanged on both faces so as to be retained in position in one of the circular openings as long the removable plate I) or b remains in place. In order to remove the bushing, or to replace one form of bushing by another, it is only necessary to remove the face plate A when, after the screws b have been taken out, the removable plate or portion Z) or b may be moved out as shown in Figs 3 so as to releasethe bushings.
I usually construct the bushing D of two stamped pieces of sheet metal held together by a rivet d, while the bushings I) are usually of insulating material and provided with one or more holes d for the passage of current conductors.
It is of course obvious that if desirable, current conductors may be run directly through the circular openings in the sides cut away and each of said and ends of the boX without being rovided with bushings although it is usually preferableto employ these latter.
I claim as my invention:
.1. A box having a side portion partly formed of a plurality of independently removable sections, a plate'shaped to-co-act with said sections to complete said side portion, the adjacent'edges of the removable sections and of said plate being respectively provided with a recess or recesses, each recess of the plate registering with a recess of one of the sections to form an opening, and a flanged bushing or bushings mounted in said recess or recesses. 2. The combination of a box havinga re movable face plate, with a removable section formed to complete one of the sides of the box and confined between the body thereof and said face plate, said section being independent of the face plate and-of the other sides of the box, and the adjacent edges of the section and of the body of the box being respectively provided with registering recesses to provioe an opening or openings.
3. A box consisting of two end sections and an intermediate section between the same, the side portions of said sections being cut away and ea -h of said cut away portions being replaced by a removable plate, there being a recess or recesses formed in the ad jacent edges of said plate and said side portions, each recess of the plate registering with a recess on the side portion substantially as described. I
4. A box consisting of two end sections and an intermediate section between the same, the side portions of said sections being cut away portions being replaced by a removable plate, there being a recess or recesses formed in the adjacent edges of the said plate and said side portion, each recess of the plate registering with a recess of the side portion with a face plate for the box and a flanged bushing in each of the openings formed by'the said recesses, substantially as described.
