To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, James B. PATTERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Hammock- Stand, of which the following is a specification.

Objects of the present invention are to provide a knock-down or folding stand well adapted for supporting more especially childrens hammocks even of different sizes and capable of occupying a very small space when folded up and to provide a stand adapted for holding a childs hammock in that it is arranged to support a mosquito netting and is or may be so constructed that it can be readily moved about from place to place.

In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated a good embodiment of my invention and in them Figure 1, is a perspective view of a hammock stand embodying features of the in vention. Fig. 2, is a front view of a p0rtion of the stand drawn to an enlarged scale,

and Fig. 3, is a side view illustrating a modi' fication.

In the drawings the base of the stand comprises a rectangular rigid frame of which the side pieces 1, are arranged vertically and the end pieces 2, are arranged horizontally or fiatwise. To the vertically arranged side pieces 1, and at the ends thereof are pivotally attached supports 3, as by means of bolts and nuts at. The outer ends of the supports 3, are beveled off on their inner edges and brought to a point so as to be received in and held together by a cap 5. 6, are braces pivoted at one of their ends to the supports 3, and at their other ends having slotand-pin connection with the side pieces 1, so that the pair of supports at each end can be adjusted by means of the binding screws 7, for the accommodation of hammocks of difi'erent lengths and the binding screws 7, may be removed and the supports 3, folded down onto the frame. The cap 5, is generally V-shaped in cross-section and it is provided with a hook 8, from which the hammock is suspended. As shown in Fig. 2, the cap is provided with keepers 9, which receive and support the end of wires 10, which constitute the support upon which a mosquito netting can be suspended.

The construction and arrangement of the cap shown in Fig. 3, are the same as in Fig. 2, with the exception that the keepers are dispensed with and a hook 11, and stud 12, are provided for supporting the means which hold the mosquito netting. To facilitate moving the stand, it may be provided with handle bars 13, which, when present, stay the supports 3.

14, are rollers of casters secured to the base and by means of which the stand can be easily moved about.

What I claim is:

1. A hammock stand comprising a rectangular base consisting of interconnected side and end strips or pieces, pairs of supports pivotally attached to the corners of the frame and consisting of pieces having their upper portions arranged in proximity, caps receivingthe upper portions of said support pieces and provided with suspension hooks, and tie braces connected with the supports and having slot and set screw connection with the side pieces of the frame, substantially as described.

2. In a hammock stand a base, a pair of supports pivoted to the base at its ends and having their upper ends in proximity, rollers or casters on the base, handle bars attached to the supports, and a V-shaped cap for connecting the ends of the supports, substantially as described.

3. A hammock stand comprising a base consisting of a rigid rectangular frame having its side pieces arranged vertically and its end pieces horizontally, supports arranged in pairs and the supports of each pair pivoted at one of their ends to the side pieces near the ends thereof and beveled at their other ends and arranged in proximity with each other, a V-shaped cap provided with a hook and applied over the beveled ends of the supports, and braces pivoted at one of their ends to an intermediate portion of the supports and having at their other ends slot-and-pin connection with the side pieces, substantially as described.
