SAFETY-RAZOR-BLADE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filedJune 21, 1909. Serial No. 503,346.
ing or stropping; and the invention consists in certain novel constructions and combinations of parts as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure l is a perspectiveview of the holder with the blade in place.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the holder,-
the blade being indicated in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a cross section through the holding jaws of the holder, and Fig. 4 is a similar section, the blade being in place in the latter figure, and Fig. 5 is a plan view of the blank from which the holder is formed.
1 As shown, the holder comprises a handle A, and opposing jaws B, projecting from the handle, and between the free edges of which aws the blade C is held as shown in Figs. 1 and 4 of the drawing. The jaws B incline inwardly from the point B where they dethe same firmly when inserted as shown in Figs. land 4 of the drawing.
In constructing the holder I prefer to employ a blank as shown in Fig. 5, having an elongated body portion 1, and the wings 2,
projecting laterally in opposite directions at one end thereof, and the holder is bent from this blank by curving the part 1 into" cylindrical form having its free edges in close proximity and united by soldering, brazing or in other suitable manner, while the wings 2 are formed and bent to produce the jaws B of the special form before described;
The end of the handle at the juncture with the jaws B, forms at A a stop for the inner endof the blade when the latter is applied as shown in Fig. l, and indicated in Fig. 2.
B and B extend throughout the length of the jaws and aid in firmly grip ing the blade when inserted as shown in Fig; 4 of the drawings.
My invention is especially designed for use in stropping the blade and is so formed as to place the edge to be sharpened at the proper angle for the stropping operation.
My holder is also made in one piece from the blank shown in Fig; 5 of the drawing and presents a simple economically produced and effective holder for the purpose specified.
I claimv A blade holder for use in stropping safety razor blades comprisinga handle, and jaws at the ends thereof and integral with the handle, said jaws inclining inwardly from their juncture with the handle portion to an intermediate point, with the said intermediate points of the opposite jaws in close proximity and arching thence outwardly to the outer ends of the jaws with said outer edges in close proximity and forming, with the intermediate points, bearings engaging the blades with the end of the handle adjacent to the jaws forming a stop for the inner end of a blade inserted between the jaws, all substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
