PATENT OFFICE.
WALTER KELLNER, OF LANGERFELD, N EAR BARMEN, GERMANY.
MACHINE FOR COATING PASTEBOARID WITH PAPER AND THE LIKE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 2, 1909.
Application filed May 6, 1909. Serial No. 494,490.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER KnLLNnR, residing at Langerfeld, near the city of Barmen, Rhenish Prussia, Germany, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Machines for Coating Pasteboard with Paper and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has reference to a machine by which paste board is glued together with paper textile or the like, and the object of my invention is to arrange for this purpose tables, one for the paste board, and one for the paper, said table having an oscillating or reciprocating motion, and means being provided to permit both fabrics after the gluing process to meet before the pressure rolls in such a manner, that the front edge of the. said paste board, and the front edge 1'' the said paper or textile lining agree exactly with each other, and both are pressed. and pasted together in that manner.
My invention is fully illustrated in Figure 1 showing a side view of the complete machine and in Fig 2 performing a detail of the table traveling means.
Like letters of reference indicate like parts in the drawings.
Referring to the said figures a, a are two standards of any convenient shape, carrying each at its head a a table a, and 2'. respectively which are pivotally connected with said standards by means of bolts. According to this arrangement the tables are capable to be oscillated or reciprocated respectively. For this purpose in a bedding 8 of the machine is located a shaft n which is revolved by a pulley a, the motion of said shaft n is transmitted by a pulley 0, a belt 1), and a pulley n to a shaft a journaled in a suitable bearing of the table or support (1..
In the same manner a shaft n of the table 71 is revolved from shaft a and pulley 0 by a belt 39 and a pulley a. On the sald shafts n and n is mounted a disk 1* and 1 respectively which is fitted each with a pin 8 said pins being in enga ement with the curved slot 11 of a bar 0; w ich is mounted on said table and it will now be easily understood 1 that the revolving disks 1' cause to travel g the tables a, 2' according to the structure of l the slots 1: to and fro and to transport thus the paper lying on the table a. and the paste board being carried by the table 2' that they i may meet before the pressure rolling pairs f, g exactly edged. Before this can take place and paper fed to the said rollers f, 9 it is first glued passing for this purpose first the transporting rollers c then the glue roller 1) which dips in the receptacle 6 and being then guided by the rollers (Z to the pressure rollers 7' meeting there the paste board. As the distance from the top of the glue roller 6 to the pressure rollers is larger than the size of the paper to be treated the gluing operation can be effected in the best manner and the glue uniformly distributed over the surface of the paper so that folds in the same are avoided.
hat I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a machine for lining paste board with paper, textile and the like the combination of a table carrying the paste board, and a table carrying the paper, said tables being reciproeated, means to travel them, of a gluing apparatus arranged before the paper table and pressing rolls mounted before the paste board table and means to feed the paper to the gluin device and the pressure rollers as describet and for the purpose set forth.
2. In a machine for lining paste board with paper, textile and the like the combination of a table carrying the paste board, and a table carrying the paper, said tables being reciprocated, a revolving disk fitted to each table and having a pin, a curved slotted bar engaging said p111 and projecting from each table support of a gluing apparatus arranged before the paper table, and pressing rolls mounted before the paste board table and means to feed the paper to the gluin device and the pressure rollers as describe and for the urpose set forth.
