Be it known that I, LEON W. PULLEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Puzzles, of which the following is a specification.

My invention has relation to a puzzle, which by manipulation permits of the seating in pockets or receptacles of a series of metal balls or other suitable objects, located within the chamber of the device having a magnetic field; and in such connection my invention relates more particularly to the constructive arrangement of'the device.

The nature, characteristic features and scope of my present invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, in which Figure l is a top or plan View of a puzzle embodying main features of my invention, showing the receptacles centrally positioned in the chambered body in form, as illustrated of a triangular-shape configuration. Fig. 2 is a vertical central sectional view through the puzzle on the line m-w of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a top or plan view of the internal magnetized ring shown removed from the housing therefor in the device or puzzle.

Referring to the drawings, 3 is the bottom of the device with a vertical rim 4.

5 is the top with a depending rim 6, con tacting with the rim at, of the bottom 3. The top is perforated to form an opening 7.

8, is a magnetized metal body mounted on the bottom 3, adjacent to the rim 4, thereof.

9 is a celluloid or other transparent cover suitably mounted in the top section shown in Fig. 2.

10, is a series of metal balls or objects adapted to be placed in the chamber 11, formed by the bottom and top of the device. In the bottom upon the inside are arranged in triangular or other form a series of pockets 12, for the reception of the objects 10, when manipulated, and seating .in the respective pockets to thereby form a triangular shape or other desired configuration, as shown in Fig. 1.

The successful operation of the puzzle is as follows: The movable objects are manipulated until directly across one of the neutral points of the magnetic field, preferably side by side, the middle object (three objects being construed at this time), being directly in line with two of the pockets or receptacles when arranged in the form of a triangle, as illustrated. Next by tilting the device in the hand and tapping the circumferential surface, the objects will thereby be caused to start or move simultaneously against gravitation and hold together by the influence of the magnetic field in which moving, the center object being manipulated in line with the nearest pocket or receptacle by balancing the device and as soon as it reaches a certain position it seats in the pocket or receptacle and each of the others follow and seat respectively in the other pockets or receptacles. However, during this time, the magnetic lines of force emanating from the. ring will tend to prevent the above act being accomplished, but this is successfully overcome by the skill of manipulation, as above explained.

It must be understood that although I have shown and described my device as circular in construction, other desired forms of outline and configuration may be resorted to and adopted with desired results, without departing from the spirit and scope of my said invention.

Having thus described the nature and object of my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A puzzle consisting of a magnetized encircling body, a receptacle containing said body and having pockets inclosed thereby, a

series of movable objects subject to magnetic influence located in said receptacle and encircled by sa1d body.

2. A puzzle, conslsting of a magnetlzed ring, a receptacle containing said ring and having pockets therein, a series of movable objects subject to magnetic influences located in said receptacle and encircled by said ring and adapted to be seated in the respective pockets thereof.
