Application filed June 10', 130%.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, (lures llnwsno Conny, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Richmond, county of l lenrico, and State of Virginia, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Gash-Register Attachments, of which the following is a spewincation. i
This invention is an improvement. in cash register attachments being in the nature of an advertising apparatus operated from the the invention consists in certain novel constructions and combinations of parts as -will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section of a cash register embodying my invention, parts being removed.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the advertising casin and Fig. is a detail pe spective View illustrating the connection between the intermediate lever and the hanger dropping from the front end thereof.
In the accompanying drawing the casing A of the register, the keys B therefor, and the key coupler C, which is common to and operated by all of the keys (may be) similar to corresponding parts ot-ali key operated registers, (such for instance as the Premiurn Register made by the Premium Register Company, Inc, of Richmond, Virginia).
The present invention includes a device operated on and by the key coupler which in turn operates upon the intermediate parts to effecta movement of the advertising IHQChELHiSXTrWhlCh may be operated step by step to expose successively the succeeding faces or lnscriptions upon the cylinder, which inscriptions may be any suitable advertising matter as will be understood troin Fi 2 of the d 'awing.
is shown, the key coupler (l is pivoted at C at its front end and operates at its rear end in a notch D in the lower end of a. link D, Whose upper end is pivoted at D to the front end of a lever E, which lev .i' ll is pivoted between its ends at if), has at E a stop to limit the rearward swinging move ment of the link, and the said lever E connects at. its rear end by a link i with pawl mechanism-for turning the cylinder G step by step. The link I may be made in sections, coupled by a turn-buckle l or slipjoint collar and set screw, to facilitate at tar-.hment of the parts.
In the use of the device it will be noticed that the'advertising cylinder will be operated every time the machine is o erated by pressing a key; as by pressing the key, the key cmiplewill e raised at its rear end and said key coupler will in turn operate the intermediate lever to turn the advertisin -r cylinder in the manner bcl'ore described.
. clnirn-- 1. An attachment. tor cash r -s isters comprising a movable advertising cylinder, pawl mechanism. tor turning the same step by step, a link connected with said pawl mechanism and composed of sections, and a turnbuckle corqiling the same, a lever pivoted betvicen its ends and connected at one end with said link and provided near its other end with a stop portion, a hanger pivoted at. its upper end to said lever adjacent to the stop portion and provided near its lower end "with a notch, and a key coupler operatinn; in said notch, substantially as set forth.
In a cash register, an advertising device, a key coupler, a hanger provided with a notch receiving the key coupler whereby the latter may operate the hanger, and intermediate devices between the hanger and the advertising device.
3. The combination in a cash register, of an advertising device, an intermediate lever, means operating the advertising device from said lever, a key coupler, and a link operated by said coupler and connected with the intermediate lever, substantially as set forth.
4%.. An advertising attachment for cash registers comp-rising an zulvertising device, an intermediate lever, ineans for ope sting the advertising device from said lever, link pivoted to the lever, a stop on the lever for limiting the movement of the link, and means Operating upon the link whereby to rock the lever, substantially as set forth.
isters, the combination of an advertising device, an intermediate lever, means for operating the advertising device trons the lover, a link connected with the intermediate lever and provided with a notch, and key coupler a. nil an advertising device for cash regwith a notch, and a key coupler operating in said notch, substantially as set forth.
7. The combination in an advertising attachment for cash registers, of an advertising device, a key coupler, a'hanger having a notch receiving the key coupler, a lever to which said hanger is pivoted, said lever having means for holding the hanger with its notched portion in engagement with the key coupler, and intermediate devices between the lever and the advertising device.
8. The combination of a cash register, a key coupler, an advertising device, an intermediate lever provided with a stop, means for operating the advertising device from said lover, a hanger pivoted at its upper end to said lever adjacent to the stop portion thereof, and provided near its lower end with a notch receiving the key coupler, substantially as set forth.
9. The combination in an apparatus substantially as described of a pivoted lever provided with a stop portion, a hanger pivoted at its upper end to said lever adjacent to the stop portion and provided near its lower end with a notch, and a cash register key coupler operating in said notch, substantially as set forth.
10. The improvement herein described consisting of an advertising device, a lever pivoted between its ends and provided near one end with a stop portion, connections between the other end of saidlever and the advertising device, a link pivoted at its upper end to the lever adjacent to the sto portion and provided near its lower en with a notch, and a cash register key coupler oper ating in said notch, substantially as set forth.
