To all whom itmay concern:
Be it known that I, ISIAH MOZLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Maypearl, in the county of Ellis and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washboilers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in wash boilers, and the object is to provide an inner lining within the boiler through which the water and steam will issue by means of perforations therein into the central portion of the boiler for the purpose of cleaning the clothes. The boiler is made tight by a cover which prevents the steam or water from escaping and the wateris kept in a continuous circuit through the clothes as it passes through the perforations in the lining. In the bottom of the lining large openings are formed, and the water and steam coming through these openings keep the clothes in motion so that the steam and water are on all sides of the clothes in the boiler and passing between the clothes.
The invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings-Figure 1 is a top plan view with the cover removed; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section, and Fig. 3 is a bottom View of the cover.
A represents the wash boiler, and B is the shell extending downwardly and inwardly from the top of the boiler A. At the lower edges of the sides and ends a bottom 3 is formed, which extends a short distance above the bottom of the boiler. The inclination of the sides and the ends of the shell forms a space between the bottom sides and ends of the shell and boiler permitting the Water and steam not only to be between the bottoms of the two, but also to come between the sides and ends. The sides and ends of the shell are provided with perforations 5, 5, and in the bottom of the shell large openings 6, 6 are formed, through Whlch openings and perforations water and steam issue with sufficient force to drive them through the clothes and thoroughly cleanse them. At one corner an opening 7 is formed at the top of the shell and boiler for the admission of water. One corner of the shell is beveled the entire depth of the shell for forming the opening 7 between the shell and boiler and at one corner of the boiler. The shell is secured to the top or upper edge of the outer boiler so that there is no possibility of any steam or water escaping between the upper edges, but only through the perforations and openings formed in the shell for this purpose. A cover 8, which is provided with a flange 9, is placed upon the boiler and the flange extends within the shell. One corner of the flange is beveled as at 10 to conform to the opening 7 be tween the shelland boiler. The cover extends over the top edges of the shell and boiler and makes a tight closure therefor.
It is evident that slight changes might be made in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to be limited to the exact construction herein set forth, but
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
The combination with a wash boiler, of a shell connected to and received in the boiler, said shell having holes formed in the sides and bottom thereof, the sides and ends of the shell extending downwardly and inwardly from the boiler forming a space therebetween, one corner of the shell being beveled for forming an opening between the shell and boiler for admitting water, and a cover for the boiler having a flange which is beveled at one corner to conform to the shape of the shell.
