To all whom it may concern: n

, Be-it known that I, DAVID J WILLIAMs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Provo city, in the county of -Utalrand State of Utah, have invented a new and useful Combined Directory and Index, of which the following isa specification.

This invent-ion relates to a combined index and directory especially designed for use in connection with the investment and savings system disclosed in my United States Patent No. 762,855, dated Jun@ 14, 1904.

The object of the invention is to provide a b ook the pages of which are arranged in set-s, the pages of the two sets alternating and one set having data arranged thereon for indicating business and professional call ings, andthe pages of the other set being provided with data indicating merchandise and services which may be obtained.

Another object is to` provide an arrangement such as above 'set forth and in which the data .on each page of one of the sets is readable with the data' on the opposed facing page of the other set, there being an intabs extending beyond themargins of the pages.v

v Vith these and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim.. v y

Page does not extend to the upper and lower edges 'of thebook but is comparatively short and has thereon the names of persons or firms, together with their addresses, these persons and lirms being engaged in the driig business. Certain other pages ot different lengths appear above and belong-.page 53 and the exposed portions ot' these other pages have namesand addresses of persons engaged in vother businesses or professions but which, aswell as those indicated on page 53 are also engaged in the sale of the articles itemized upon the tab on the page appea'riinql at` the lett of the book. ll will be seen that. the tab ot this page, which in the present instance, is numbered 52, has thereon the names of several remedies all ot which can be bought of the tiri-ns or personswhose names appear upon the exposed por- .tions of the pages at the right of the book.

the names of the person or persons engaged in the sale of the medicine. If parties engaged in other callings than that of the drug business, are also engaged in the sale of the medicine, their names Will appear above or below the page 53, all of the pages being so shaped and proportioned as to permit desiredparts thereof to be exposed in this manner.

Having' thus described the construction and operation of my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is A book having data upon the leaves thereof relating to business and professional callings and merchandise and services obtainable, said book having marginal tabs upon the leaves thereof? said tabs being indexed on one side to indicate business and profes sional callil'igs, and on the other side to inf dicate merchandise and services obtainable, the said indexes bearing reference to thedata upon the corresponding faces of the leaves from Which they extend. l
