To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IVILLIAM HENRY CoRNroRD, a citizen of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, and resident of Tuerong, No. 1 Three-Chain road, Mornington, State of Victoria, Commonwealth of Australia, gentleman, have invented a certain new and useful Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts constituting a new game apparatus.
A board or table is provided upon which are placed miniature forts, men, castles and objects to be used as hereinafter described. For convenience of reference the word board is employed throughout the specification to designate any suitable space, made or prepared, fixed or portable, of wood or other material. The board may be of oblong, square or other shape or an ordinary table may be used. The miniature forts or objects to represent forts, men, flags and appurtenances are made of card or paper or other substance. These may be of various shapes, preferably of bent or curved pieces of sheet material the bending into angles or curves causing them when extended to stand upright on their edges upon the board and allowing them to be packed away in a box after the game is finished. The flags may be made of paper or other material and mounted upon uprights supported upon cork or weighted or other bases so that they may be placed where desired on the board.
In conjunction with the foregoing there are provided toy shooters fitted with spring mechanism whereby they are adapted to proj ect peas, shots or pellets through ports from each of the four corners of the board against the forts, men and flags.
In order that my invention may be better Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 12, 1907.
Patented Aug. 31, 1909.
Serial No. 401,798.
understood I will now proceed to describe .the same in relation to the accompanying drawing hereto annexed, reference being had to the letters.
The drawing is a perspective view of the improvement.
In the drawing A represents the board or table upon which the game is played. The forts are marked B and flags C. They may be of various sizes, shapes, styles, and colors, and designed and marked as desired.
The game is intended to be played by two or four players each having a toy shooter, which is used to shoot through the port the fence protecting the players eyes from pea shots which are coming from the other side.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A game apparatus, comprising a table, a barricade arranged at each corner of the table, and diagonally thereof, said barricade consisting of sheet material provided at each end with an upright, the lower ends of the uprights being bent to form a clamp for engaging the table top, a set screw in connection with the clamp for securing it in position, each of said sheets being provided with a port at approximately the center thereof, a toy shooter behind the barricade and projecting through the port toward the center of the table, and a plurality of objects arranged on the table intermediate the barricades for the purpose set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this first day of October A. I). 1907 in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM HENRY CORNFORD.
