BASKET-RACK.
To all 'whom it may conce/rn:
Be 1t known that I, GEORGE Lnwrs i/JAL- TnRs, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Chicago, county of Cook, and State as a unit from the wall brackets.
' tional view on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1 Fig. 3
is a detail side elevation of the outer end of one of the wall brackets; Figs. 4 and 5 are sectional details on the lines 4 4 and 5 5, respectively, of Fig. 1; Figs. 6 and 7 are sectional details, respectively, on the lines 6 6 of Fig. 4 and '7 7 of Fig. 5; and Fig. 8 is a perspective of one of the attaching lugs for securing the bottom to the wall bracket.
The rack may have the continuous form,
as represented in Fig. 1, a plurality of sections being united, or each section may be complete in. itself. In either case the wall brackets are the same, and take the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, wherein there are represented upper and lower wall plates 10, 11, having apertures for the accommodation of attaching screws, and an arm 12 outstanding from the lower wall plate and preferably upwardly inclined, a stay bar 13 uniting the upper wall bracket with the outer end of the arm 12, and a vertical bar 14 uniting the inner ends of the arm 12 and bar 13.
The bottom of the rack comprises a pair of longitudinal bars, generally designated by the numerals 15 and 16, a plurality of rigid cross-bars 17 uniting the bars 15 and 16, and a plurality of filler rods 1S parallel with the bars 15 and 16 and carried by the Speccation of Letters Patent. Patented Aug'. 24,1909. Application led April 5, 1909.
Serial N0. 487,915.
bar 17. The bottom thus formed is a rigid unit, and as such may be attached to and removed from the wall brackets. Each of the bars 15 and 16 is preferably composed of a tube 19, sleeved upon a rod 20, in order that it may have the appearance of a brass bar while having the strength of a steel rod. In the ends of the rod 20 are formed threaded sockets to receive screws 21 for securing to the ends of the bars 15 and 16 attaching lugs 22, 23, the former at the front of the bottom and the latter at the rear thereof. The lugs 22, 23, are secured by means of screws 24, 25, to the wall brackets. Flanges 26, 27, are formed on the side faces of the wall brackets to serve as seats for the lugs 22, 23, thus throwing on the screws 24, 25, only the duty of holding the lugs to the seats. The rack is also preferably provided with a back bar 28, which may be built up the same as the bars 15 and 16, and is in similar manner secured to attaching lugs 29, which engage seat flanges 30 formed on the upright member 14 of the wall bracket, to which the lugs are secured as by the screws 31.
The wall brackets having been secured in place and the rack bottom having been assembled and provided with the attaching lugs, the bottom is fitted to the brackets by seating the attaching lugs in the seat flanges provided therefor, and the screws 24, 25, are then inserted to secure the parts together. The back bar 28 is similarly attached. For the purpose of repair the bottom and back bar may be removed without loosening the attachment of the brackets to the wall by merely withdrawing the screws 24, 25, and 31. At the end of the rack, whether it comprise one or a plurality of sections, a knob, as 32, may be applied to the outer face of the bracket in line with the bars of the bottom, for the purpose of giving the device a neat finish.
I claim as my invention- 1. In a basket rack, in combination, a pair of wall brackets having seat flanges on their adjacent faces at their inner and outer ends, a rigid bottom adapted to engage the seat flanges and having attaching lugs, and means for securing such lugs to the brackets.
2. In a basket rack, in combination, a pair of wall brackets having` scat flanges on their adjacent faces at their inner and outer ends,
a rigid bottom, attaching iugs secured t0 the X secured to its ends, such lugs being adapted ends of the bottom and adapted to fit the to engage the seat flanges and to be secured 10l seat ianges and to be secured to the brackets. to the vertical members ci' the brackets".
3. In a basket rack, in combination, a pair y of Wall brackets each having a vertical mem- GEORGE LEWIS VVALTERS" ber adjacent its inner end, such vertieai Vitnesses: members having seat flanges on their adja- P. G. EMERY, cent faces, a back bar having attaching lugs v WM. S. HAMM.
