THOMAS C. KENNEDY, 0F BALTIMORE, HART'YLAND.
EASTER-BOARD.
To all whom it may concern.' i
Be it known that I, THOMAS C. KENNEDY,
land, have invented certain Improvements 1n Plaster-Boards, of which the following is a specification. j
This invent-ion relates to an improved plaster board to be used in place of ordinary wood lathing; and it 'consists/in, a peculiar construction of the board whereby the same is strengthened `oir reinforced, and adapted for application to curvedhsurfaces, as will as shownin Figs. 5, 6 and 7.
hereinafter fully appear.
In the further description of the lsaidin-l vention which' follows referencel is made to theaccompanying drawing forming apart hereof, and in which,`-,
Figure 1 `is an isometric view .of the improved plaster board. Figs. 2, 3, 4 and 5 are enlarged transverse 'sections of Fig. 1 illustrating various constructions of the plaster board. Fig. 6 shows the improved plaster board as applied to a convex surface, and Fig.' 7 the same as applied to a concaye surface. .i Y'
The plaster boardis .formed of avbodyy of plaster l the sides of which are-covered and y protected by sheets 2- of felt, burlap, strong paper, or solne wowe material; and between the said sheetsthe bodv of 'plaster is reinforced or strengthened by the incorporation therewith of sheets 3 )of material similar to the enveloping sheets 2 as shown in'Figs. 2,
3 and 4; or by a loose body 4 of hair, Wood fiber, asbestos or some analogous substance,
I 'n either construction the reinforcino' material is thoroughly incorporated with. the plaster, so that the board throughout vis of practically uniform texture,l except that at the board can be bent and applied to curved surfaces to which it is held by nails .a as shown in Figs. 6 and ,7, without breakin .the intervening rigid portions of the boar In Figs. 2, 3 and 5 the channels are on one :side only ofthe board, the other side is channeled on both sides with the bendable parts b practically midway between the surfaces of the rigid portions.
'rtually or in effect- Specication of Letters Patent. ].';\,1',`()111',e(1 Aug. 24, 1909. y Application filed July 16, 1908.\ Serial No. 443,759'.
being flat, While Figs. 4,6 and7 the board v I am aware that broadly,`the reinforcei ment of plaster boards is not new, but I am not aware that the reinforcingy materials have been distributed throughout the entire substance of the plaster in the rigid parts ofthe board, and compacted practically without plaster wherev the lboard has to be bent to adapt it-for applicationl to curved surfaces. l l
I therefore claim as'niy invention A channeled plaster board adapted for application to curvedsurfaces, which consists of'a body of plaster having distributed'therethrough, reinforcing materia-l having elements or fibers which are separated by the surrounding lplaster except at the channels4 where the elements of the reinforcing material are brought together and the plaster practically excluded, substantially as specilied.
