FOOT-BOARD FOR VEHICLES.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN Then, a citizen of the United States, residing at Plankinton, in the county of Aurora and State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Foot-Boards for Vehicles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to improvements in foot boards for vehicles and it consists in the novel details of construction herein after described and claimed.
The object of the invention is to improve and simplify the construction of devices of this character and thereby render the same less expensive.
The above object of the invention is accomplished in the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section through the front portion of a vehicle body and the improved foot board; Fig. 2 is a transverse section taken on the plane inclicated by the line 2--2 in Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a detail perspective of one of the suspending frames for the foot board.
In the drawings 1 denotes a portion of the notes the improved foot board which is removably suspended in the front portion of the body 1 by two suspending arms 8 engaged with the upright surrounding wall of the body. One of the suspending frames 3 is arranged at each end of the foot board and each one consists of a curved base portion at having long and short arms 5, 5 The long arm 5 is disposed transversely beneath the foot board and its forward end is bent upwardly at right angles to provide a hanger arm 6, the upper extremity of whichis bent outwardly, then downwardly to provide a hook 7 to take over the upper edge of the front end or dash-board of the body 1. The short arm 5 extends longitudinally of the foot board 2 and its outer end is bent up- Wardly at right angles to provide a hanger arm 8, the upper extremity of which is bent to provide a hook 9 similar to the hook 7 Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 461,904.
said hook 9 being adapted to take over the upper edge of one side of the body 1. The arms 5, 5 of the curved base portion of the suspending frame are apertured, as shown at 10, to receive attaching bolts 11 which pass through the foot board and attach said suspending frames to the same, as clearly shown in the drawing.
By constructing the suspending frames or hangers 3 from single pieces of metal, as above set forth, they may be produced at a very small cost and readily applied to foot boards of any size. Said suspending frames or hangers may be made in different sizes, that is, with their suspending arms 6, 8 of different lengths so that the device may be applied to vehicle bodies having surrounding walls of different heights and so that the foot board will be positioned to accommodate the user of the vehicle. By providing the hooks at the upper ends of the hanger arms to take over the walls of the body, it will be seen that the device may be readily removed from the body when it is not desired.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed is:
The hereindescribed foot board for ve hicles comprising a rectangular foot board and two suspending frames, each of the latter being formed from a single metal strap bent adjacent to its center to provide a longitudinally curved base portion having long and short arms, the extremities of the arms of the base portion being bent up at right angles to provide vertical hanger arms and the extremities of the latter being bent outwardly and downwardly to provide hooks to take over the upper edges of the front and side walls of a vehicle body, and fastenings passed through the foot board and the base portions of the suspending frames.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN HAGE.
