Description

H. S. MILLS. BRACKET DEVICE. APPLICATION FILED ooT.3, 1908.
vPatented'.Aug; 3, 19091 /NVENTOR Mr/YSSES: Q/j
HERBERT s. MILLS, or CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.'
BRACKET DEVICE.
4"Specification of Letters Patent. Application mea october 3, .1908. serial No. 456,052.
Patented Aug. 3,1909. j
To all vhom it may Be itA known that I,HERBERTS. MILLS, a. citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illi-' nois, have invented a new andl useful Improvement `in Bracket Devices, of which the ollowing is'a specification.
M vention relates to an improved brac et-device for adj ustably supporting the condensing-lens holderand also, by preferl ence, the lamp therefor, in a moving-picture' 'i machine.
' take them out The operating mechanism "of a moving-y picture machine 1s so compactly assembled m the'casing as to render difficult the matter for purposes of adjustment, re-
access Ato parts to which the pair and t 'e like,
the condensing-lens access is obstructed-by holder and the lamp.
. The object of my invention is to provide' construction of the bracketingthe lens-holder and `lamp be adapted to be unfolded to an adjustable device 'for car whereby it sha the restricted space aifordedllnthe `casing-of l ing-machine only -a portion of the base- 3 is nut -10 for clam ing Athe thfIa maclzhine. j n t e accompanying drawing, Figure 1 shows my improved bracket-device by Aa plan view with the lens-holderfand the lamp suljported upon it, the distended .or unfo ed condition of the device being showndotted lines, and .2 is a view 0f the same in side elevation regardedV in the direction'of the arrow on the otted line in Fig. 1.' Of the casing of a moving-picture exhibitshown 'in the drawing as'the su port for my im roved bracket-device descri ed in detail as ollows: An arm 4. havinlg one end pivoted to the base at 5 has pivota y connected with its opposite end the offset-end of an arm 6 ex anded at' its free Xend into a head 7 provi ed in`one side with a jaw-forming slot 8 to engage a stud 9 on the base carrying a wing-` head in its normal position. A we -strengthened flat post 11 rises from the arm 6" an has extending horizontally from itat the upper end yof the web a shelf 12 containing a longitudinal slot indi- F1g. 1. The condensing-lens barrel or holder l14k, of any; desired construction, isfastened l 'at its depending stem,15 to the face of the of the Way and folded to bring them back to their operative positionshall inl :a dotted representation at 13 inon one end of an armyl'lQ fastened at its oppo-v through the lamp relative to therear end of the lensvbarrel, ma be adjusted. v
' To unfo d the bracket-device from the nor'- mal condition in which it is represented, upon loosening .is r'st swung away center. 5 to turn the from the stud 9 onthe arm 4 through an arc of site end to the shelf 12 by a bolt 20 passing the slotv 18, whereby' the position of the Vthumb-nut 10v the device 90 degrees, more or less, whereupon the arm `6 is swung on its pivot-connection with the arm 4 to extend inline with the latter, 'thereby carrying the llens-holder and lamp out of the way, and evenoutside' the. casing of the machine' if necessary. To restore the lens-holder-andthe lamp to their normal position's, the armsl of the bracket-device Aare turned reversely' to the manner described to engage the jaw 8 with the stud 9,-When the nut 10 is fastened to clamp the head 7.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure.
by Letters Patent, is-
1. An adjustable combined lens-holder and lamp bracket-device for a moving-picture machine, 'comprising an arm'pivoted at one end to the base of the machne-cas1ng,a
l second arm pivotally connected to said firstnamed arm andadapted to be releasably fastened at its free end to said base a post rising from said second larm lfor carrying the' lensholder, and a shelf extending from said post for supporting thereon pose set forth.
2. An adjustable Ombined lens-holder IC- and lamp bracket-device-for'a movingthe lamp, for the pur.-
-ture machine, comprisingan arm pivote at v one end tothe base of the'machi'ne-casmg, a
'se cond arm pivotally connected to saidfirstnamed arm and terminating at its free end in Va slotted head to coperatewith a releasable fastening-deviceon said casing, a' post rising from, said second armfor carrying thelensholder, -and a shelf extending from said post for supporting thereon the" lamp pose set forth.
3. An adjustable'lens-holder bracket-dei vice forv a moving-picture machine, compris-` ing an arm pivoted at one end to the base of the machine-casing, a second arm pivotal-ly connected to said'rst-named arm and terminating at its free end in a slotted head to cov operate with a releasable fastening-device on saidv casing, and a' post rising from said second arm for carrying the lens-holder, forthe .purpose set forth.
4i. An adjustable combined lons-holder :md lamp bracket-device {C12-L movilig-pic- Lure machine, comprising 2m nun pivowi :1tonc end to the 1mb-u. of the ma@hina-casing, :i sucoml :1111] pivwmily vomlcutcil "L0 smid Iix'slnamed :1mi sind vlmimitiug :it its freu cmi in :L slotted houd L0 coperatie with :L rclcziszibib i'aLSt0I1ing-d(wice on :mid casing, zi post rising i'iom Sziiii soi-omi :ii'ln 'for carrying Lhcimist holder, :L slotted shelf extending from mii! 1 post, and im m'nl adjustably secured to sniii siuli' :uid terminating m a, 1:1mp-si0m Hovkv., im' Hm pulpos@ svt forth.
