What I claim is.
1. In an updraft furnace the combination of a boiler, e irebox below the sume, a fire brick well et the rear of seid firebox, n, transverse square heeder supported in seid well, a second square header supported in the front wall of the furnace, inclined Water tubes connecting said headers, arched retorts above and supported b the said inclined tubes, the said retorts eing located about midway between the front furnace wall und the said fire brick Wall, e transverse jet pipe, jets in saiddpipe adapted to eject fresh hot, air into en through said retorts, connections between the said jet pipe und said boiler, a layer of bricks su ported on the l)wster tubes, s vertical well above the first mentioned square header sind connections between the said headers and the boiler.
2. In an updreft furnace the combination' of a boiler, e rebox below the sume, u fire brick well at the rear of seid iirebox, a transverse header supported in the top and to the roer oi' seid lire brick wall, u second 'header supported in the front furnace Wall, Water times connecting the seid header and 1nclined upwardly to the last mentioned one,
