ROTARY MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent resented M529, 1909.
Application filed February 5, 1909. Serial No. 476,268.
To all whom iii-may concern:
Be it known that I, JosEF SvnroH, a sub- 'ect of the'Em eror of Austria, residing at opovicky', in tie Kingdom of Bohemia and Austrian Monarchy, have invented a new and useful Improvement in RotaryMachines,
pass and the objects \of -which of which the ollowing is a specification.
invention relates to improvements in lime mes having one eccentrical rotary piston, which rotatesin its cylindrical casing so as'to remain in a continual contact with it in a straight line, while the s ace between cylinder and iston is divide I in two partitions or cham ers by a sliding abutment, which moves out. of the way of the piston to let it my improvements are, first, to maintain a sufiiciently tight contact between the sliding abutment and the surface of the cylinder; second, to makethe pressure of the slidin abutment upon the cylinder continually e astic; third, to attain sufficient durability for the good-working of the sliding abutment of said machine. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the Figure 1 is a vertical section of the machine, having an oval piston, and in Fig. 2
an eccentric cy inder the same having a circular piston; Fig. 3 a side elevation of the machine. I
-3 is the cylinder having the shaft 1 passing centrally throu h it. The piston 2 is simply of oval or circular section, fast on the shaft, and working in contact with the cylinder 3 of the casin at one straight line, which is parallel to t c axis. The induction port 4 and the eduction port 5 are placed to the right and to the left of the sliding plate 6 which is guided by its casing 7 in central direction against the piston 2; I construct it preferably direct over the axis 1, so that it reposes by its weight upon the rotary piston. Volute springs, or one volute spring 9 only, sitting on a 'stile 8 which is fastened on said sliding plate 6 in the middle and in a central direction, is pressing 1t conaccompanying drawing, in sire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s:
tinually'against the volute springs must be divided symmetrically upon the whole length of the slide, so as to produce a pressure which acts regularly and with the same force at each point of the contact line between the sliding abutment and the cylinder. The volute spring is'inclosed between a plate 10 upon the stile and-between the cover 12 by which the casing 11 of the volute sprin is closed. The casing 11 is firmly i'ast'ened upon the casing of the machine.
piston. Ifseveral such are pressing at once, they By this arrangement the contact of the sliding abutment and the piston is continualand an elastic contact accomp grinding between the sliding abutment and the rotary piston is produced, whether the piston rotates or not. The effect of it will be a durable tight contactbetweenthe cylinder and the sliding abntmen I do not claim said rotary machines broadly, whether they may bensed as engines or pumps, blowers, motors, or in any other way, but
What I do claim as my invention, and de- A rotary pump for engines comprising in combination, a stationary member having a cylinder and an inlet and outlet passa e communicating therewith a'nd a. vertica 1y dis posed guiding member in alinement with the center of said cylinder and projecting between said passages through the perimeter of said cylinder,a rota piston eccentrically mounted in said cylin' er, a downwardly acting vane member disposed in said guiding portions and engaging said piston, a piston sprin and a spring casing secured to said cylinder for ho ding said spring in engagement with said piston. I
V In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
