'. Be it known that I, CHARLES H. OIBRIEN,
citizen of the United States, residing at Augusta, in the county of Kennebec and State of Maine, have invented certain new anduseful I m rovements in ElectricalA paratus for Pro ucing Sound-Signals, of wliich the following is a specification, reference being had therein to: the accompanying drawing.
My present ments in electrical apparatus for producing sound signals, the main object being the production of'sound signals for automobiles,
launches and the like where a greater sound is desired than with the apparatus as set forth in my Patent #974,245, patented July- The sound produced by the apparatus as set forth in the above named patent is round and clear, but with the construction as set forth in this application of electrodes in loose contact on armature which is centrally attached to diaphragm, I secure greater latitude of vibration consequently more intense sound and is a more especially desirable in autos, launches and electric cars. paratus consists primarily of anamplifier carrying a diaphragm, an elcctro-magnet adapted to operate an armature, which carries a circuit interrupter; the armature and the diaphragm being connected together so that vibrations of the armature are mechanically transmitted to the diaphragm. For this purpose I also intend to dispense with the use of the button as set forth in the above mentioned patent, preferring to shake the electrodes in loose contact to act in. combination with the prong of the armature.
In the accompanying drawings':Figure 1 is a sectional view of a sound producing body, the resonator showing one form of arranging the apparatus, the electrical circuit being in diagram. Fig. 2 is a similar view of a modified form.
Referring to the drawings,-the numeral 1 designates the amplifier which is connected to a casing 2 provided with aregroyable cap 3. By this construction it will e seen that upon establishin a circuit by means of the push button, the e ectro-magnct operatesor vibrates the armature, which in turn through the medium of the prong vibrates thediahprag'm and the'circuit 1nterrupter so as to produce a sustained or intense sound.

What I claim as new and desire. te secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In an apparatus of this character, the combination of a sound producing body, a diaphragm, a vibrating armature connected centrally of the. dia hragm, said armature being provided wit contacts, an electromagnet for vibrating the armature, an electrical source of energy, and means for adjusting the electro-magnet with relation to the armature.
2. In an apparatus ofthis character, the
