My tabrilator mechanism comprises a tabulator bar 55 which is mounted on arms 56 which are secured to the carriage 6 by screws 57 or in any suitable manner. The arms 56 extend upward and backward from their point of connection with the carriage, as shown in Fig. 1. The tabulator bar 55 is or may be of rectangular cross section and is formed on its upper and lower sides with a series of notches or transverse grooves 58 spaced apart a distance equal'to the letter space feed movement of the carriage. One or more stops 59 are mounted on the bar 55. As shown in the present case, these stops are made of sheet metal having an open ended slot which fits over the tabulator bar 55 in one of the pairs of notches 58.
