SWITCHING DEVICE FOR ELECTRIC LAMPS.

Be it known that I, CHARLES A. EIMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Gatos, in the county of Santa Clara and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Switching Devices for Electric Lamps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in switching devices for electric lamps, and the object is to provide means, which is attached to the bulb of the lamp, for throwing it into and out of circuit by simply turning the bulb in the socketf" The invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and more fully pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings :Figure 1 is a perspective view Fig. 2 is a transverse, horizontal, sectional view; and Fig. 3 is a de tail.
A represents the lamp socket, and B is an incandescent bulb received in the socket. A shade bracket 1 is mounted upon the socket having two tubes 2, 2 connected thereto.
T he clamp 3 of metal wound with cord or other suitable material is connected to the lamp bulb, and an eyelet 4 is formed on the clamp. Connected to the eyelet is a string 5, the ends of which pass up through the tubes and extend downwardly, one strin having a dark ball and the other a light bafi attached thereto, so that when the dark ball is pulled the bulb is turned or rotated, thus breaking the circuit, and when the light ball is pulled the circuit is made producing a light.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a very simple attachment whereby the circuit can be made and. broken by simply rotating the bulb by means of the strings. Of course, a chain might be at tached to the eyelet and one end of each chain inserted through a tube.
It is evident that more or less slight. changes might be resorted to in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to be limited to the exact construction herein set forth, but:
Having fully described my invention, Wh at I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1.. A switch device for electric lamps comprising a lamp socket, a lamp bulb connected thereto, a clamp connected to the bulb, and means engaging the clam. for rotating the bulb for making and brea ring the circuit.
2. A switch devfce for electic lamps comprising a lamp socket, a bulb connected thereto, a clamp connected to the bulb, a lamp bracket connected to the socket having openings formed therein, and means con nected to the clamp and passing through the openings in the bracket for rotating the bulb for making and breaking the circuit.
3. A switch device for electric lamps comprising a socket, a lamp bulb connected thereto, a shade bracket connected to the socket, tubes connected to the bracket, a clamp connected to the bulb, a string connected to the clamp, both ends of the string passing through the tubes, and one string being for rotating the bulb for breaking the circuit and the other for making the circuit.
4. A switch device for electric lamps comprising a socket, a lamp bulb connected thereto, a shade bracket connected to the socket, tubes connected to the bracket, a clamp connected to the bulb an d having an eye thereon, a string connected to the eye of the clamp, both ends of the string passing through the tubes and one string being for rotating the bulb for breaking the circuit and the other for making the circuit.
