The parts are readily assembled and dised, bolts are needed only at the ends of the arch bars where the latter are secured to the journal boxes, and this construction.
is found to have advantages both in assembling and disconnecting of the parts and in the structural locking features.
I do not intend to confine'myself to, the specific form of parts shown in the drawings, but desire to c aim any variations thereof which may fall within the spirit of my invention.
What I claim is:
1. In a car truck, a side frame having an arch member, truck columns anda column base formed integral with said arch, the
lower face of said column-base having an angular formation,- an inverted arch bar having an angular formation adapted to receive the angular formation of said column base whereby the parts are locked together against longitudinal movement relative to each other.
2. In a cartruck, a side frame comprising an arch bar, truck columns and a column base formed integral therewith, one of said columns having a notch therein, an inverted areh bar-constructed to engage said column base and lock the same against longitudinal movement relative to said inverted arch bar, I and a bolster constructed to be inserted between said truck columns and swunginto proper operating position through such notch.
3. In a car truck, a side frame comprising an arch bar, truck columns and a column base formed integral therewith, one of said columns having a notch'therein, an inverted arch bar constructed to engage-said column base and lock the same against longitudinal movement relative to said inverted arch bar,
and a'bolster constructed to be inserted between said truck columns and swung into proper operating position through such notch, and a spring seat having depending extensions thereon adaptedto embrace said column base and'said inverted archbarto prevent lateral movement thereofwitlr re-- spect to each other. j
- 4. In a car truck, a side frame comprising an arch bar, guide columns and acolumn base formed integral therewith, saidcolumn base having a downward projection, an in- I verted arch bar constructed to receive said projection and thereby lock said column as'e and said arch baragainst lateral movement relative to each other, one of said columns having a notch therein, a bolster having spaced apart shoulders adjacent its ends adapted to be inserted'betwee'n said columns 'and turned through said notch into .proper operating position, a spring seat mounted upon said column base and means upon said seat for embracing said column base and saidinverted arch bar to prevent relative lateral movement thereof.
5. In a car truck, a side frame, comprising,
two members, an extension formed upon one of said members, said other member being formed with a corresponding depression to receive said extension to lock said parts together, one of said members havingan opening formed therein for receiving a bolster and spring, and a spring seat positionedinsaid,
opening adapted to embrace said members and prevent lateral relative movement thereof.
'- In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
