HOT-BLAST DRYING-MACHINE.
Speccatioii of Letters Patent.
Patented May 4, ieee.
Application filed December 12, 1908. Serial No. $7,287.
To ait-whom it 'muy concern.'
Be i1. known thin'. i, `\y\.Yii.-Li,ii\i H. LAMB, a citizen et the United States, residing at Attleboro, in the 'county of Bristol and State of l n g machines for drying articles of jewelry or similar articles.
rlhe object of niy inyention is to iniprove the construction of a hot blast dry-ing inaarticles of jewelry is greatly facilitated and the tinie required for drying the saine iiiaterially reduced.
A iurther object ol iiiy invention is to construct a hot blast drying` machine so that eiiaiiieled articles of jewelry may be dried or baked simultaneously with the drying of.,
wet articles of jewelry, thereby reducingthe cost of drying and bakingbotli kinds of jewelry.
A still further object ol' my invention is to reduce the cost of iiianulacturing hot blast drying machines for jewelers use by siiiiplis,
i'ying the construction of the saine.
My invention consists in the peculiar and i novel construction of a hot blast vdrying inato i of theI bodir a blower connected with the l o i chine having a hollow body, an air heating chamber in the body, a coil of steam pipes iii -tho air heating' ohanibei', a baking; ovcii 1n the body, a drying receptacle in the heating chamber, a pipe leading from the blower to the drying receptacle, and details ol construction, as will be more hilly set vforth hereinafter and claimed.
Figure 1 is a 'vertical sectional View taken centrally through niy improved hot blast v drying machine on a lino with 'the blower,
and Fig. .2 a horizontal sectional. Viewy taken on lino 2 LZ oi' i"ig. 1 through the drying machine.
ln the drawings, u. indicates a hollow cylindrical body constructed to forni a drying receiacle l) a hcatino' chamber c and a baliw' i i n 1.11 l r n C oven (t, c a coil ol steam pipes in the heating chamber c, f a blower, g a pipe leading li'oiii thc heating chamber c to the blowerj and L a pipe loading i'roni thc blowerf to the drying receptacle b.
ticularly to an iinprovenient in hot blast ry l The body a is constructed preferably of 1 sheet nietaland shaped to have the sides 8, l the closed bottoni 4 and top 5, aiid is supported on the legs 6 6, the rear one of which is formed to havefthe bracket .7 for su ppoit ing the blower f as shoe n in Fig. 1.
- The drying receptacle l) fornis a part of the toni 9 aiidsides 10`-in the front of which are the perforations -11 and extends downwardcentrally from the top 5 into the heat ingchaniber c.
sides 3 and top 5 of the body a., the bottoni 9 and sides 10 of the drying receptacle l), and a lateral partition V12 forming the bottoni of the chamber.
t The baking oyen d is formed bythe sides '3 and bottoni 4 of the body a and the lateral partition 12, forinin@ the top of the oven, which has a' rectaiigu aro'peniiig -1 3 in the side closed by a door 14.
`rllie steam coil c is placed. at an angle in the heating chamber c adjac'eiitthe bottoni 12 and under the drying rece itacle b, v.as shown in Fig. 1, and is connecte to a source olsteain supply under pressure (not shown) by a pipe 15. The blower f has the pulley 16' for operat ing the saine and maybe any form of a i blower adapted to suck the hot air froni the chamber c through the pi e g, which connec ts the. chai'iiber with the lilower, and forces the hot air through the pipe i'which extends upward trom the blower and is shaped to bringl the open outlet eiid'jl? ofthe pipe l dowiiwardinto.thedryingrl receptacle, b, as l shown infFig. 1. o, f l In the operation of my improved hot blast r drying machine the wet 'articles of jewelry l are placed in the drying receptacle b, the l enameled articles vof jewelry placed in the oven d, steam under pressure turned intotlie l 1 steani coile andthe blowerf operated by the pulley 16 in the usual way. Air is now sucked by the blower f from the drying rei ceptacle i) through the perforations'] 1 in the f saine, then through the heating chamber c l and steani coil e, where ,the air is'dried and heated, and out through the pipe g to the 1 blowerjfroiii which the hot air is now forced l through' the pipe 7i and out through the open end 17 of thc pipe onto and through thewot jca'clry. A constant blast or circulation ol' l hot air is now kept up through the jewelry,
he heating chamber c is forincd by the top 5 and has the open top S, the closed botreeeptaele into the heating lhormighly drying' the naine in the shortest ber, a blower', a pipe connecting the heating possible time. The enameled articles are left in the oren d the required time to properly dry or bake the saine.
lt is evident that any means may be used lor heating the air in the heating ehaniber c wit-hout materially invention.
llaving' thus deseribed iny invention, l
claim as'new and desire to seenre by Letters l. ln a drying' inzrehine, a (,lrying rm'eptaele, a heating' ehalnber under the drying' reeeptar-le, ineane for connecting the drying' reeeptarle with the heating chamber, a baliing oven, means for healing the heating' chamber and the oyen, and means lior (fonstantly circulating the hot air from the healing Chamber ont and bank through the drying chamber.
all'eeting the anirit oll n'iy 4 I an open top l l l l g chamber with the blower, a pipe Connected with the blower and having' its open end eX- tending downward into the drying receptacle and means for heating the heating chamber. 4l. A hot blast drying machine having` a hollow body, a heating' chamber in the body, drying receptacle extending troni the lop of the body downward into the heating' chamber and having openings eonnecting' the drying reeel'itaele with the heating' chamber, an oven in the body under the heating' chamber, a blower, a pipe connecting the heating' ehainber with the blower, a pipe eonneell'd with the blower and having' its open end in a position to extend dowmvard into the drying' receptacle, and ineans `lor i i heating the an' 1n the heating chamber and 2, .ln a drying nniehine, a healing' ehain- 4 bel', downward into theheating' elianiber and ha vingr nienings connecting' the dryiine; reeeptaele with the heating chamber, a baking' oven under the heating chamber,` means lor healing' the chamber and oven, and means` for constantly circulating the hot air from the heating chamber' out and back through the drying receptacle into the heating chamber,
an open top drying reeeptaele extending i 3. A hot blast drying niaehine having a 1 hollow body, a heating Chamber in the body, an open top dry-ng receptacle extending' frein the top downward into the heating' chamber and having oyening'e eonneeting'y ihn drying reeepaele'wit 1 the heating ehan1- the oven.
5. ln a hot blast drying' machine, the coin bination of the following' instrnn'ieiitalities: a hollow body a formed to have the drying' reeeptaele b, the heating chamber c and the lurking' oven d, a steam eoil e in the heating ehaanber c, a blower f, a piie g connecting the heating chamber e with the blowerf, and a pipe /i eonneeted with the blower andhaving its open end extei'iding' downward into the drying rece )taole l).
In testimony w iereef l have signed my naine hereunto to this specification in the l presence of two subscribing witnesses.
