Patented April 27, 1909.
Application filed January 8, 1908. Serial No. 409,895.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that L'EVRAH LIPPS, of
' Warren, in the county of Trumbull and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Iin' rovements in Electric-Fan Supports; and I o hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and. exact description of the inuse the same.
The primary. object of this invention is to enable an electric fan to be readil adjusted into different positions on a sin e bracket,
whether supportedon'a desk or ya wall or.
partition. I
The invention will be hereinafter fully set forth and particularly pointed out in the' claims. y
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation, only a portion of a fan casing being shown. Fig. 2 is a top plan view,
arts omitted, the neck of the motor casing eing shown in section. Fig. 3 is a similar a base plate 3 having two trunnions with which engage thumb screws 4 passed through openings in arms 2, and by which the plate is swiveled to the bracket; When these screws are loose the late may be turned axially thereon into di "erent positions,.and by binding the screw 4 the glgte will be securely locked. At its center t has an opening to accommodate the neo {'5 of the fan casing, an outline of which is shown at 6, Fig. 1. This neck is formed with a cirthe end of a retaining screw by which the casing will be held to the plate. the screws 4, as shown in Fi s. 1 and 2, may be screwed into the plate an elongated so as to project at its inner end into the groove the neck, but if preferred an'auxihary screw mag be employed for this purpose, as shown in ig. 3.
with
swiveled base late By the'described means, the one and the same bracket without additional parts may be em loyed to su port an electric fan either directy on a stand or table or against a wall or partition. Not only may the fan be adjusted horizontally on the base plate, but by plate It is manifest, from what has been stated, that I have provided an extremely simple and be adjusted and held in di ferent positions whether used as a desk fan or a bracket fan.
I claim as my invention:
1. In combination, a support, a fixed yoke, abase plate, a motor rotatably mounted on said base plate so as to be capable of movement in a horizontal plane, and means con necting the base plate to the yoke 'so as to be capable of adjusting the motor in a vertical plane.
2. In combination, a su port, a fixed yoke, amotor having a neck, a ase plate having a and screws mounted in such yoke supporting said base plate. a 4
3. In combination, a su port, a fixed yoke, a motor having a neck, a ase plate having a central opening to accommodate said neck, and screws mounted in such yoke supporting said base plate, one of said screws being designed to extend into said opening for engaging and holding the motor neck. In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
Forthis purpose, one of;
EVRAH c. LIPPS.
adjusting the latter the fan may "be set at screws. totighten and release the swiveled inexpensive means for enabling'an electric ,fan to central opening to accommodate said'neck,
