ELIAS GRAHAM, OF HAZEL DELL, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO K. E. WORFEL, OF HIDALGO, ILLINOIS.
POBTAIB LE RURAL MAIL-BOX.
T 0 all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ELIAs GRAHAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hazel Dell, in the county of Cumberland and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Rural Mail-Boxes and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to makeland use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in mail delivery apparatus, the object in view being to produce means of this nature for use upon rural delivery routes, forming a convenient mechanism whereby the mail delivery box may be moved to and from a house.
The invention comprises various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my apparatus, and Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view through the apparatus.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A and A designate poles, the former of which. has mounted thereon a pulley B, and C designates a pulley pivotally mounted at any suitable location, preferably near a location at which the mail is to be delivered, and is provided with an operating handle C. D designates an endless cable passing about said pulleys. Mounted upon the poles A, A are brackets J upon which is a line wire E.
F designates a mail box, one of the side walls G of which extends over and forms shelter for the roof of the box and is preferably convexed as shown. Depending from said curved portion G are the pulleys H which ride upon the wire E and said curved Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 432,128.
projection G of the box is fastened to the cable D by means of rings K secured to each end of said curved portion. The posts A, A carry bracket arms J designed to support the wire E and various posts A may be positioned at different distances accordingly as it may be desired to carry the line different distances.
In operation, the box having been mounted upon the wire E and a cable D connected to the top G, the operator by turning the wheel C may cause the box to move in one direction or the other, the weight of the box being supported upon the wire E.
From the foregoing, it will be noted that, by the provision of a device as shown and described, a simple and eflicient means is afforded whereby mail or other articles may be conveniently transported diderent distances by merely turning the crank in one direction or the other, pulleys which run on the line wire and support the mail box being protected by the overhanging curved portion of the box.
\Nhat I claim to be new is A mail delivery apparatus comprising stands, angled bracket members fixed thereto, a track fastened to the outwardly extending portions of said bracket members, a receptacle having one wall thereof projecting above the top of the receptacle and over hanging the latter, sheaves fixed to the under concaved surface of said overhanging portion of the receptacle and adapted to engage said Cir
