Description

ma, aan.
MELENDY, OFADELHI, IOWA.
Letters Patent No. 91,470, dated June 15, 1869.
IMPROVED REVOLVING' SHOW-CASE.
The Schedulereferred to inthese Letters Patent and making p'art of the lame.
To all whom (it may concern.'
Be it known that'IfO. H. MELENDY, of Delhi, in the county of Delaware, and State of Iowa, have invented a new and improvedRevolvig Show-Oase; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction andoperation ofthe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in
' Which,-
Figure 1 is a section through line :z: a: of fig. 2. Y
Figure 2 is a top view.
The object of this invention is to .provide forpublic use a cheap, convenient, and ornamental show-case, in which a rotary box is employed to hold the articles, and is divided into several compartments, that are shown through the glass cover of the enclosing case, said box being so constructed that it can be rotated about a vertical axis, so as to bring any one f the compartments under a door. or lid near one side of the enclosing-case, and allow articles to be inserted or removed through the same.'
In the drawingsy A is a circular or polyhedral box, with wooden walls l and bot-tom, and glass lights, G, in /its top, arranged A, at e, and provided with a knob, c', by which to l open it, and, if necessary, with a lock, by which to fasten it down.
A vertical spindle, E, attached to the centre of box B, projects up through the centre of the cover of case A, by which the box can be turned within the case, so as to bring any one of its compartments under the cover O.
The cover O maybe made of wood, glass, or any other suitable material.
The cent-re. of the box may be solid, if preferred, the compartments being arranged in a ring around it. Cigars or other articles may be kept in the compartment-s, and by turning the box, they can be brought to the door c, without jarring or injuring them.
When not under the door they can be seen through the glass, although out ofthe reach of injury and out of the way of beingl stolen.
Having thus described my/invention,
What Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The outer case A, which has its top formed with separated glass sections, G G, and a hinged door, C, in combination with the inner revolving box B, which is divided into separate chambers, and with the spindie E, which extends up through the topV of case A, and serves as a means by which to turn box B, all in the manner and for the purpose described.
To the above specification of my improvement, I have set my hand this 17 th day of February, 1869. O. H. MELENDY. Witnesses:
PERY THORPE, J. H. PETERS.
