secured to the adjacent floating rod, by reason of which construction it will be apparent that the movement of any one of the operating levers in one direction or the other, will effect a rocking movement simultaneously of the bars with which it is connected through the medium of the corresponding floating rod, With a resultant variation in the position of the ground-treating implements carried by said bars, the rocking movement of the bars being limited by the length of the slots formed therein and above referred to.
The members of the central pair of sills are connected with the adjacent end sills by means of braces 21, while to said central sills are further secured the outer ends of braces 22 whose inner ends support a platform 23 disposed parallel with and intermediate said sills, as shown in Fig. 1. To the upper face of said platform is attached a longitudinal track 24 upon which travels a carriage 25 comprising a pedestal and a seat mounted upon the upper end thereof, the base of the pedestal having secured thereto pair of rollersl or wheels 26 which run along the track ra1 s. I
l'he front end of each sill 5 has secured thereto one end of a short chain 27 whose other end is attached to a ring 28 to which the draft animals are hitched.
The duplex machine shownin Fig. 3 comprises a pair of sections A and B both of which are identical in the main with the single section shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the rods being located to the right of the center of the right hand section B and to the left of the center of the left hand section A. These sections are joined together by means of pairs of diagonally-disposed linked braces 29 and 30, the front ends of each pair of braces being attached to the hitching ring 28 of one section, while their rear ends are attached to the front and rear ends of the adjacent sill 5 of the other section. The mutually-adjacent ends of the front and rear rock- bars 8 and 13 of the two sections are likewise connected together by links 31 and 32, each of which carries a pair of eye-bolts 33 set into the ends of said rock-bars. In this form of the invention, the carriage shown in Figs. 1 and 2 is replaced by a double carriage 25 which has a length sufficient to extend from the platform 23 of one section to the platform 23 of the other section, said carriage being provided at each end with a depending pedestal whose rollers travel along the rails of the tracks 24 and 24. It is, therefore, possible for the occupant of the seat to shift the carriage in either direction upon the track, into position for operating any one of the levers. It will also be obvious that the occupant or occupants of the single or double carriages may shift the same into osition conveniently close to the particular ever or levers to be operated.
What is claimed is:
1. In a machine of the class described, the
combination, with a frame, of a plurality of mounted upon the frame; and a traveling carriage movable upon said platform into position adjacent any one of said actuating devices, to permit the same to be operated.
2. In a machine of the class described, the combination with a frame, comprising a series of longitudinal sills, of a plurality of sets of transversely-disposed rock-bars carried by said sills; ground-treating implements secured to each rock-bar; a separate lever for actuating each set of rock-bars; a platform mounted upon said sills; and a traveling carriage movable upon said platform into position adjacent any one of said levers, to permit the same to be operated.
3. In a machine of the class described, the
combination, with a frame, comprising a ground-treating implements secured to each series of longitudinal sills, of a plurality of sets of transversely-disposed rock-bars carried by said sills; ground-treating implements secured to each rock-bar; a separate lever for actuating each set of rock-bars; a platform mounted upon said sills; a track secured to said platrorrn; and a traveling carriage movable in either direction upon said track into position adjacent any one of said levers, to permit the same to be operated, said carriage including a base member provided with wheels engaging the track.
4. In a machine of the class described, the
combination oi a plurality of connected sections, each including a frame, a plurality of sets of transverse rock-bars carried thereby,
rock-bar; and separate devices for actuating each set of rock-bars; a longitudinal platform secured to each frame; a track secured to each platform; and a transversely-disposed carriage extending across said frames and provided with wheeled supporting members engaging the several tracks, whereby the carriage may be moved in either direction upon said tracks, to permit the operation of any one of said actuating devices.
