To all whom it may concern:

ADAMS und CLAiiENCE H. yHovviiiin, citizens of the United States, residing, respectively, at Pine Bluff, in the county of Jellerson and State of Arkansas, and at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a new und useful lmprovemeiit in LocomotiveC'riine Under frames, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to a locomotive crane iinderframe which ordinarily consists of-a bn-ilt up wooden or rolied steel frame work mounted on wheels adapted to travel along a railroad track and surmounted by a horizontally arranged bed-plate which is pivoted centrally to the underframe and adapted to carry the steam engine, boiler, derrick, hoisting mechanism, and other appurtenances of the crane. On the under frame, between it and the bed-plate, is fixed. concentrically with the said pivot, a circular toothed rack which is engaged by a correspondingly toothed wheel or pinion mounted in suitable bearings on the bed-plate, where by the latter with its appurtenances is adapted to be horizontally revolved about the underframe, the component parts of thc underframe with its circular toothed rack being of se arate construction secured together by bo ts, rivets` or, otherwise, whereby the rigidity of 4the undei'fi'anie is im aired; and our invention has for ite ob- ]ect to provide a strong, rigid, compact.. and durable metallic iinderframe having all itz princi al parte combined in one piece without t e une of fastenings, as Iicreinsifter described and claimed, reference being hail to the accompanying drawing, whcreon,

W'het- We claim as our invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent s:-
1. In a. locomotive crane underframe of the character described, the combination of of the u. bearing for tho pivot pin of the bed-plnbe of the said crane, and a circular toothed ruck concentric with the bearing, for engagement by a toothed wheel rotatably carried by the said plate, the said rack being integral with the said frame, substantially ns described.
2. In a locomotive crane underframe of the character described, the combination of n bearing for the pivot pin of the bedqplate ol the seid crane, und n circular toothed rack concentric 'with the bearing. for engagement by n toothed wheel rotatably car ried vby said plate, the said bearing and rack being inte rral with the said frame, subetanw tially as f escribed.
3. A locomotive crane underframe of the character described, comprising n horizontally arranged rectangular box-shaped -mrtion adapted to forni a receptacle for el last, a middle upright tubular portion intersecting and proJecting above the box-shaped portion, an u right pivotal bearing located centrally witiin the tubular portion and united thereto, and a circular toothed reels.' surrounding,r the said projecting part of the tubular portion and concentric with the said bearing, all the said parts beingr integral, substantially as described.
