To all whom' it may concern.'
`Be it known that we, Farmers C. Mason and GUY L. SIN'rz, each being a citizen of the 'United States of Aincrioafresiding at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of ldiohigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in ignition-Timers for internal-Combustion Engines; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as Will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention relates to improvements in ignition timers, for internal Combustion engines, the charge in which is fired by electric spark mechanism 5 and its object is to 'rovide reliable device for simultaneously a( justing the time of the ignition in a number of cylin ders; to provide a reliable devine for the purpose, not lilrely to get out of order, and to provide the same with various nea7 and useful features hereinafter more fully described and partieularly pointed out in the claims.
Our device consists essentially of a rotating hea-d arranged transversely of a shaft and adapted to rotate synchronously With the engine, and having a transversely movable member provided with a roliing contact to successively' close the electric circuits that operate the .tiring mechanism, said rotating head being ineiosed in a case, Within which is a-ring of insulating material traversed by said rolling contact and in which atregular intervals is inserted the terminals of the elec trie ci rouits, said terminals being spaced apart Cri Uur invention further consists in the par-- tisular arrangement and combination of these various features whereby the same are not likely to become Wornyto get out of order, er to become displaced or loosened by the vibration and impact ofthe Contact, and in the various details of construction and arrangeimmt hereinafter more fully described, as wili more fully appear by reference to the acooinpanying drawings, in which:

So also all` the insulating material is firmly'clampedin place by the jam nuts on the outer end ofthe belts 16 and thus secured against any looseness 0r displacement by any variation due to the contact of the roller 13 with the terminals and insulation. This rollingcontact is not likely to Wear and will follow anyirregularity or depression of the heads 17 of the bolts or terminals and also is less likely to produce sparks and burning of the electrodes.
