To all whomt may concern: Be it known that I, BENGT MAeNUs WIL- HELM HAJQSON, aeitizen of Sweden, residing at Hartford', in the county of Hartford and v State of Connecticut, have invented certain new andV useful Improvements in Chuck- Actuating Devices, of which the following is a. specification.

It will, therefore, be seen that when the stock is not firmly held bythe chuck, additional closing power may be applied'to' said chuck by rotating the threadedbolt 1 6, and thereby forcing the pivoted draw-1n lever to therear, and causing its lugs 21 to bearwith greater force against the annulus`13, and as said annulus is in engagement with the collar 12 of the drawin spindle it follows that great power may be applied to said spindle to cause the chuckjaws irml to grasp the stock.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is. v
l. The combination, with a main spindle, and with a chuck and its spindle, of means for preliminarily closing said chuck bearings carriedby the main spindle' an auxiljiary chuck-closer journaled in sal-d bearings and surrounding the chuck-spindle; and
Chucks of other forms means'also carried by the lmain spindle for actuating said auxiliary chuck-closer to impart additional pressure to the chuck-jaws.
2. The combination, with a rotary main spindle, of a thrust-block rigid with said spindle; a chuck and its vspindle mounted within the main spindle; means for preliminarily closing said chuck; a draw-in lever pivoted to the thrust-block, and surrounding the chuck-spindle; means carried by the main .spindle for actuating said draw-in lever; and means actuated by said draw-in Ilever for operating the chuck-spindle.
3. The combination, with a tubular spinl dle, of a chuck-actuating spindle mounted in said tubular spindle; a chuck; a thrustblock rigid with the end of the tubular spindle; an annular draw-in lever pivoted to the thrust-block; means operated by said llever for imparting an auxiliary closing movement to the chuck-actuating spindle; and means carried by the thrust-block for actuating said lever.'

The combination, with a spindle, of a thrust-block carried at the inner end thereof; a chuck; means for imparting a preliminary closing movement to the chuck; a device pivoted to the thrust block forimparting an auxiliary closing-movement to the chuckactuating means; and a screw carried by the thrust-block, one end of the screw bear- 'ing against said device.

8. The combination, with a draw-in spindle, of a chuck actuated thereby; a tubular spindle in which the draw-in spindle and chuck are mounted; a thrust-block rigid with said tubular spindle; an abutment on the 1n spindle.
9. The combination, with a tubular spindle; of a draW-inspindle; a chuck actuated b Ysaid drawin splndle; an annular thrustbibck rigid with the tubular spindle, and
