ALrALFa-msx.
Specification of Letters Patent. I v
Patented Nov. 3, 1908.
application filed April 21, mos. Serial No. 428,461.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEWIS E. WAIERMAN, a. citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State-of Illinois, havelnr'ented certain new and useful Improvements in Alfalfa-Disks, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct an alfalfa disk to be used in the renovation of alfalfa, clover and like meadows, and so constructed that any one double tooth can be removed and another inserted without disturbing any of the others.
In the accompanying drawings.- Figure 1 is an elevation of one face of the disk. Fig. 2 is an elevation through the disk on a line cutting through two oppositely disposed double teeth. Fig.- 3 is an elevation of the face of the plate to which the teeth are se-' cured. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a portion of the disk. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a double tooth.
The plate 1 is circular in outline and has a central hub 2 provided with a square opening 3. One face of this plate 1 is formed with an edge flange 4 which has cut-away portions 5. Adjacent to each cut-away portion is located a V shaped projection 6, and near the apex of these projections is located a curved projection 7. An openin '8 is formed through the projection 6 and t irough the plate \vhichis formed integral therewith.
A lurality of double teeth are'secured to the ace of the plate from which the sectional flange 4 extends. Each double tooth is formed of a single piece having a head portion 9 from which extends the pointed 'n'ongs 10. The underface of the head ortion 9 is formed with a recess 11 an an tion. Thedonble teeth are all secure to the plate 1 in the same manner. The recess 11 in the underface of the head portion is placed over a V shaped projection 6 and the end of the head portion 9 is located against the curved projection 7. The other sides of the head portion rest in contact with the ends of the flange forming the cut away portions. A bolt 13 is assed through the hole 8 in the plate 1 an V shaped projection (i and through the hole 12 in the head portion 9 of the double tooth, and receive a nut 14 on its projecting end: The heads of the bolts are counter-sunk in the plate 1. As each double tooth is secured to the plate independently of the others, any one can be removed and replaced by the new one without disturbing the others, or without destroying the plate in its connection with the other plates of a gang.
I claim as my invention.
1. A tooth for barrows, comprising a head and two 'ointed prongs,.the underface of the head ormed with a recess and an opening through the head.
2. A disk provided with a luralit of independently removable dou le teet each tooth comprising a head and two pointed prongs, the underface of the head formed with a recess which receives a projection extending from the head of the disk and an opening through the head, and a bolt assing through the opening and throng 1' an opening in the disk.
In testimony whereof I have'hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing wltnesses.
