Togllwhom 'it-may concern:
Be it known that I, EnsoN FITCH SHN- znn, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Ava, in the county of Jackson and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Plowshare-Fasteners, of
. which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to plows, and more particularly to plow share fasteners, and has for an object to provide adeviee of this character for detachably joining the Plow share to the plow, and to permit the ready attachment and detachment of the same vllxxen desired without the use of bolts or the Other objectsand advantages will be apparent as the nature of the invention is' better disclosed, 'and it will be understood `that' changes within the scope of the claims may view of the hook, Fig. 3 4is 'an end viewv ofbe resorted to without departing from ythe spirit of the invention.
In the drawing, formmg Aa portion of this'v like numerals of reference indicate similarparts in the sev. eral..views,.-1'Figure 1` is a perspective view partlyin section, Fig. '2 1s e perspective specification, and in whic i the cam' lever.
,In the drawing, there is shown a malleable 1ron casting 5 to which the beam A, as
shown in'dotted lines, is secured. vlfVhile the casting is referably formed'from malleable iron-,.it wi l of course be understood that. the
same ma be formed from wrought-iron or steel. e casting is provided at. its .forward edge with a plurality of angularly disposed ears 6 in which are formed passages 7 for receiving rivets or similar fastening means to be engaged with the mold board S, as shown in Figi'. l of the drawing. At
the forward end, the casting is extendedV downwardly and outwardly to form an eur .9 which is forked as indicated at l0 to engage a headed iu. l1 projecting laterally from one'side o the landside or bar 12. A member 13 is pxrotally connected at 14 t0 the casting 5 andis provided at its lower end with a hooked portion 14 for engagement witha headed' pm 1:1 projecting from one side 'of said landside, or bar previously describeE The castin is provided with a, horizontallyv dispose pin 16 npon'which w cam or eccentric .17 is mounted, the same being pro vided with a suitable o eratin lever 18';
The cam or eccentric is ispose in a cam slot 19 formed in themember 13, as shown.'` i
The mold board is provided wit-h a strap or lugv upon its under side and is adapted to engagethe share to keep the meeting edges of said mold board and said share in.alinement. The mold board,and the share'are connected by va suitable brace member 20.
Assuming the owto be in an inverted sition and resting u on the beam A, and 1t is' desired to move t ie share, it 1s simply 'necessary to push the lever 18 in a downward direction, as indicated by -the dotted lines shown 4in Fi 1 ofthe drawing, thus throw ing the mem r 13 in theposition shown in the hooked l'portion at. the lower end of; said member with a pin 15, whereupon, the share may be lifted at the rear end until the forward port-ion ofthe castingl is disengaged from the pin 11. The device is extremely simple in construction, may be manufactured at a relatively lowtigure, .effectively serves as means to permit aready att-achment of a shareto a mold board', and as is obvious, the device can he constructed in a dotted lines in the same 'figure `to disengage i manner whereby it may he applied to plows of various construction without materially changing the same.
lthe landside of the share. and cam operated means for operating said swinging member,
3. The combination with a plow beam, of a. ca'stihg secured thereto, said casting having a hooked forward portion, a mold board carried by the casting, a share and its landside, a pin-carried by the landsde for receivin the hooked portion of the casting, a pivote' 1y mounted member carried by the casting having a hooked lower end, a pin carried by the-landside .for receiving 'the hooked end, and a cam 'carried by the 'cast- 10 ing for controlling the movement of said member. e
