lie .it known that l, Fiunniurok l. JOHN- soN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Barrington, in the county of Bristol and State of Rhode island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Olive and Pickle Forks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
The object of this invention is to produce a domestic inutilement of simple and inexpensive construction that is more particularly adapted to bc inserted into bottles, jars, or li te receptacles, to facilitate the removal of olives, pickles, and the like, from the preserving` liquid contained therein.
n essential feature of this invention is the lazy-tongs construction through which the forks are opened and closed, and another practical feature of construction is that the shank is stamped out of one piece of fiat stock and left open practically throughout its length so that the device may be readily cleaned after using.
Vith these and other objects in invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the app ended claims.

rThe next operation is to turn this T-head over at right angles and then bend the same slightly into a concaved form, as illustrated in Fig. 6, to receive the thumb of the operating hand.
A. pair of miniature forks or jaws 10-1O preferably blanked out of sheet stock are provided having a plurality of downwardly extending tines 11-11, each fork being provided with an upwardly extending shank 12-12, which shanks -are twisted or turned at right angles and their flat sides crossed and pivoted together at 13 through the eye 5 in the lower end of the shank. T he upper ends of these crossed shanks are pivotally connected through the links la and 15 to the lower end 16 of the push rod 7. By the use of these connections a lazy-tongs effect is obtained, the action of which causes said forks to open and close, by the endwise movement of the push rod.

In a device of the character described, a push rod, a body portion constructed of sheet met-al and having ears integral therewith adapted to be bent up to form guide eyes at its upper and lower ends through which said push rod may slide, a pair of forks or jaws, a shank on each jaw, both being pivoted together and also to the lower end of the body portion, said shanks extending at an angle across each other each onto the side opposite its jaw, a link member pivotally connecting' the end of each shank to the lower end of the push rod forming a lazy-tongs connection, and a spring acting on said rod for holding said jaws normally closed.
