DANIEL D. BERRY, or SPRINGFIELD, MIssoUEI.
S'IOVE OR RANGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented oct. 13, 190s.
Application led January 22, 1908. Serial No. 412,067.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL D. BERRY, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Springfield, Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves or Ranges, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in stoves or ranges and consists in the novel arrangement, construction and Vcombination of parts as will be fully hereinafter described and claimed.
My invention is an improvement upon my former invention shown in the patent granted to me May 30th, 1905, No. 791,400.
The principal object of my inventionv is to provide a plurality of chambers beneath and at one side of the oven, into which fresh air is admitted, thoroughly heated and circulated through the several chambers and passing through the oven in a heated condition.
A further object of my invention, is to construct a stove or range in twzo parts, so that access may be had to the flue located between the bake oven'and warming oven, and so that access may be had to the chambers located on the bottom and at one side of the bake oven, while constructing the stove or range.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention, with a part of the front wall broken away, showing the construction. Fig. 2 is a central vertical sectional view of my complete invention. Fig. 3 is a sectional view with a part broken away, taken on the line 34-3 of Fig. 2.
In the construction of my invention, I provide a base section 4, and a top section 5, the upper edge of the base section is provided with a pocket 6, in which the under edge of the top section is seated, and when both sections are placed together, a complete air tight joint is formed.
In the upper section is located the bake oven 7, the left hand wall thereof provided with a plurality of air passages 8, located near the upper edge, and preferably formed in alinement. In the right hand wall of the bake oven and near the bottom is also provided a plurality of air passages 9.
Beneath the bake oven, I provide lchambers 10 and 11, formed by the casings 12 and 13, the casing 12 secured to the under side of the bake oven at the point indicated by the numeral 14, and extends around the corner and upwardly along the end of the bake oven, forming a chamber 15, the chambers 10 and l5 formed by the casing 12 is divided by a bridge wall 16, extending from the corner of the bake oven to the casing, and the said bridge wall is provided with an air passage 17, preferably centrally located which is clearly shown in Fig. 1.
In the front and rear walls of the upper section 5, I provide a plurality of air passages 18, which lead into the chamber 1 0, through which fresh air is admitted into said chamber. yThe air which is admitted from the outside through the airpassages 18 into the chamber 10, is thoroughly heated and permitted to pass through the air passage 17 upwardly through the chamber 15 and into the bake oven through the air passages 8, the heated air then passes through the bake oven and out by way of the air passages 9 into the chamber 11, it then takes the course through the chamber 11 and out into the smoke or fiame passage 19, located in front of the bake oven, through the air passages 20l formed in the front wall 21 of the casing 13.
The heat from the fire boX contacts with the casing 13, and the front wall 21, thereof, thoroughly heating the fresh air entering in the chamber 10 before it is permitted to pass into the bake oven, the circulation of said air taking the course as shown by the arrows in Figs; l and 2.
The object of forming my stove in two sec- I tions, the division line lbeing at the point in alinement with the flue located between the bake oven and the warming oven, is to be able to more readily apply the casings on the bake oven and to be able to gain access to the flue when it is desired to cleanse the same, and to the fire box in manufacturing and repairing.
I-Iaving fully described` my invention what I claim is:
A device of the class described comprising a stove or range composed of two sections, one mounted upon the other, a bake oven, casings connected to the bake oven and located beneath and at one side of said bake oven forming inner and outer chambers, ay
fresh uit' into the same, the two end walls of i In testimony whereof, I have signed my the bake oven provided with zur passages, naine to this speolieation7 1n presence o' two and the Vertical wall of the outer casing plosubscribing witnesses.
vided with air passages through which the DANIEL D. BERRY. 5 heated air after having passed through the IVitnesses:
oven7 can pass out into the flue, substantially GEORGE R. LHUNS,
:1s specified. J. EUGENE LAWRENCE.
