To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAV TEIKE, a subject of the King of Prussia, German Emperor, residing at Ironwork, Tangerhiitte, Germany, have invented a new and useful Improvement in and Relating to Toothed- WVheel-Molding Machines, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a molding machine for toothed wheels in which the model teeth mounted on a movable arm are step by step advanced by a forwarding mechanism. Heretofore these machines permit only a diflicult or incorrect adjusting of the advance of the teeth or necessitate for each division a special exchangeable mechanism respectively allow only a limited number of divisions. j
The molding machine according to my in vention is at once adjustable with the greatest exactness for any division or any number of teeth without exchanging any part or without fearing inaccuracies'during the forwarding motion. This effect-is attained by moving the well known radially adjustable model-tooth support by an adjusting mechanism consisting of mutually adjustable, step like movable and progressing parts which mechanism relates in its micrometer division to the circumference of an exactly fixed circle. The wheel is first designed in a well knownmanner, like any ordinary belt wheel and the cutting out pattern removed. In its place the guide ring I) is fixed on the spindle a. The ring consists of an exactly turned rim of a fixed diameter providinga groove 0 in which divisions for the difierent numbers of teeth are arranged figured for the outer circle of the rim. The exact regulation of the progressing rotation of the arms 6 around the spindle a is effected by means of the mechanism illustrated in Figs. 38, the motion of which is transmitted by an arm h of a lever the other end of which slides in a flatand exactly constructed guide z of the guide piece (Z where it can be adjusted by a set screw is. This mechanism permits a vertical motion of the guide piece at and the arms (1 together with the model teeth whereby a special moving mechanism for the teeth is made unnecessary e. g. in smaller molding machine.
The advancing mechanism of the machine consists of a clamp Z moving and temporarily adjustable on'the ring I). -The clamp Z provides a tongue m bent corresponding to the outer circumference of the guide ring 6 and carrying on its front a division in millimeters at. A hollow slide 0 also movable and adjust-able on the guide ring Z) can he slid over said tongue and provided in a section the nonius. The slide a further provides a projection 10 against which a finely divided micrometer screw 9 movably and adjustably mounted on the clamp Z pushes. The projection p can be caught from the rear by a hook r movably and adjustably mounted on the clamp Z.
In order to facilitate and simplify the working of said mechanism I place the division in a cutting a of the guide ring I).
- The operation of the machine is as described hereafter. The clamp Z is fixed on thering b and the guide shell 0 according to the division forwarded to the millimeter division 17. with the help of the nonius. The slide carrying the micrometer is then adjusted towards the projection g) and fixed whereafter the micrometer screw is correspondingly adjusted whereby the guide 0 is moved fractions of millimeters (Fig. 5). The hook r is now placed against the projection 79 and screwed fast. After the micrometer slide is redrawn the play of thehollow guide 0 (Figs. 3, 4) between the clamp Z and the hook 1 now corresponds to the division exactly fixed even by fractions of millimeters. I now move the mechanism, Z, 0, towards the lever arm h fixed on the guide ring I), fix the clamp Z, mold by a downward pressure or the like the model teeth in the molding wall, lift the same, release the set screw of the lever arm h and remove the guide 0 from the clamp Z until it pushes against the hook 1" whereby the lever h and with it the model teeth is also forward the exact part of the division. The lever h is fixed, the clamp Z moved towards the guide 0 by releasing its set screw from the ring 7), and fixed again. After the second tooth is now molded the process is repeated until all teeth are molded.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by a United States Letters Patent is 1. In a tooth wheel molding machine, the combination of a fixed ring (0), an exactly adjustable clamp (Z), an exactly adjustable sliding shell (0), means to guide clamp and shell in a circle 011 the fixed ring, a stop (7)) located on the shell, and an adjustable hook 1") mounted on the clamp and catching behind. the said stop, subtsantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
2. In a tooth wheel molding machine, the combination of a fixed ring (6), an exactly adjustable clamp (Z), an exactly adjustable sliding shell (0), a lever (h), a box (cZ), a slotted guide (2') fixed to said box, means to adjusta-bly connect the one end of said level" in said guide, means to fix the other end of said lever to the fixed ring, a carrier (6) for the model tooth and means to lower or lift the box ((Z) with the carrier and the model tooth (g) substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
3. In a tooth wheel molding machine, the combination of a fixed ring (0), an exactly adjustable clamp (Z), an exactly adjustable sliding shell (0), means to guide clamp and shell in a circle on the fixed ring, a stop (7)) located on the shell, an adjustable hook (1") mounted on the clamp and catching behind the said stop, and a micrometer screw ((1) adjustably and movably mounted on the clamp (Z) substai'ltially as described and for the purpose set forth.

In a tooth wheel molding machine, the combination of an arm (/1), a. lixcd ring ((1) of fixed dian'lcter, a groove (0) on said fixed ring, a division located in said groove, an exactly adjustable clamp (Z), an exactly adjustable sliding shell (0). and means to more clamp and shell towards or from each other, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
