UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ABRAHAM L. TO'LMAN, ORANGE, MASSACHUSETTS.
COMBINED TWEEZER S AND BLACICHEAD-REMOVER.
Remover, of which the following is a specification. t p
This invention relates to a combined tweezers and blackhead remover.
The object of the invention is to rovide an implement ca able of performing t e dual functions define by'its name, which shall be thoroughly eiiective when used as a pair'of tweezers in removing hairs, and when used as 'a blackhead remover to exert a; pressure upon'the skin surrounding the blackhead in such manner as to secure its removal without pain, and without causing irritation to the skin immediately surrounding the pore or gland in which the blackhead is housed.
With the above and other objects in view, as will appear as the nature of the invention isbetter understood, the same consists, generally stated, in a pair of tweezers having its jaws perforated and outwardly dished, the opposed edges of the j aws-being adapted to impinge against each other, thus to permit the pulling out of hairs, and the outwardly bulged or dished erforated portionsof the' jaws serving as b ackhead removers. As a matter of still. further im rovement, the intermediate portion of eac blade or-lever of the tweezers orifice, the w s of which are inwardly dished, thus to provide effective fingerholds .to prevent the implement from slipping lorigitudina'llybetween thethumb and finger in use. Aside from this function the openings in thelevers materiallyli hten the implement and add an artistic finis to its appearance.
The invention consists further. in the vari- Ions-novel details of construction of a com-' bined tweezers and blackhead remover, as s.

edat one end and held properly spaced apart by theshank 2 of an ear wax spoon 3-, the connection between the shank and the blades being secured by rivets 4. The outer or free end of each of the blades is provided with a substantially circular outwardly dished jaw 5 having a central orifice 6, the opposed edges of the jaws being, as shown in Fig 2 flat, so willbe thoroughly. effective in re moving airs, while the curved or rounded outer faces of the jaws, in conjunction with tudinally bowed. These levers are connect-' the orifices, will operate in a positive and r practically painless manner to remove blackeads, to'effect which it will only be necessary to place one of the jaws over Ere blackhead in such manner as that the lackhead willappear through the orifice in the other jaw, and thenpress inward u on the implement, and this-will cause the esh surrounding the blackhead to be forced into the orifice surrounding it, and thereby squeeze ou: the blackhead. In other words, when the orifice of one jaw is em loyed for removing a blackhead, the orifice 1n the other jaw constitutes a sight opening to facilitate the proper positioning of the implement.
Each blade or lever is provided adjacent to its jaw with an elliptical orifice '7, the walls of which are deflectedinward, hus to provide effective fingerholds, which will operate to prevent the implement from slipping between the fingers when used as tweezers.
The implement is simple in construction, may readily be manufactured,'and will be found of the highest utility in securing the functions designed.
'1. 'A'pair of tweezers having its jaws ori-' the orifices constituting a sight opening when p the other orifice is in use.
2. A pair of tweezerswardly dished and orificed to rovide blackhead removers, one of the ori ces constituting a sight opening when the other orifice is m use.
