Patented Aug 11, 1908.
Application med October 5, 1906.. Serial No. 337,595.
zen of United States of America, residing at Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented-certain new and useful Improvements in Binding- Posts, of which the following is a specifica- My invention relates particularly to a novel means for securing circuit wire in a binding post. i
In the drawings?Figure' 1 is a lateral sectional view of the binding post. Fig. 2 is a top view.. Fig. 3 is a side View showing-the bore. Fig. 4 is a lateral view showing the.
circuit wire in place.
In carrying out my invention I rovide a posta of the usual construction 0 such devices, having. a bore 1) to receive the circuit wire. In the side of said post there are 0 enings c c in which non-rotating studs (1 located. The studs arepreferably secured together by a bridge 4;. A screw f shoulders on said bridge and is threaded into the post a,- providin a'means for forcing the studs inward to ho d the circuitwire g in place.
are I In the usual construction an ordinary screw is used to hold the wire.- This screw as it rotates cuts and spreads a stranded wire and is objectionable. for this reason; in my device the non-rotatable studs alone come incontact with the wire and consequently the wire is not cut and spread but is held firmly andfeven against the post so that a positive even contact is assured.
I (318.1111 as my nvention:
A cylindrical binding post having a central bore and two openings through the wall of said post into said bore, non-rotatable binding studs movable lengthwise through said openings, a bridge connecting the outer ends of'said studs, and means connected with said bridg'e for moving said studs, substantially as described. v
p In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
