Description

PATENTED AUG. 11, IQOB.
J. FEINBNBURG.
SGISSORS. APPLICATION FILED SEPT. 19, 15
JOHANN FEINENBURG, OF SOLINGEN, GERMANY.
SCISSORS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 11, 1908.
Application filed September 19, 1907. Serial No. 393,603.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHANN FEINENBURG, a subject of the German Empire, residing at Solingen, in the Kingdom of Prussia, Germany, have invented new and Improved Scissors, of which the following is a full and com )lete specification.
T e subject of the present invention is a pairof scis ois, the two blades of which are pressed together at their cutting edges, by a spring which is placed between them, and in which the removable rivet or bolt which holds the two parts together, is held by a spring, the open slotted end of which is pushed over the head of the connecting bolt, which is turned or cut to fit, while the other end, which is bent over 9r provided with a pin, fits into a hole or opening in one of the parts of the scis ors.
The invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 isa front view and Fig. 2 is a section in the direction of the line AB of Fig. 1.
Between the two blades 1) of the scissors which are connected by the bolt (1, springs c are attached. which have the ell'eet of pressing the two blades of the scissors I) together at their cutting edges. Each member b, is provided with a separate and independent spring seated within a corresponding recess formed on the inner face of the member around pivot a. In this way the two springs may be placed in close proximity from end to end without impairing their efficiency. The connecting bolt or riveta is held in place by a resilient keeper (1. The latter is provided with a slot e, which is open at one end to engage a grooved portion f, of pivot a. Keeper d is bent over at the other end or is provided with a pin g, and one blade of the scissors is provided with an o )ening or socket h, into-which the keeper, ait-cr being pushed into groove f of the bolt, is sna ped, L. e. the bent'part or the pin g, is snappet mto the socket 71. In this manner the keeper holds the bolt (1 in its position, without pressing the cutting edges of the blades together.
For pressing the blades together at their cutting edges, there are 5 )rings 6. If it is required to remove the bolt for the purpose of separating the two blades, the scissors are opened until the two ends of the springs c whic 1 incline the one towards the other, no
longer touch. It is then easy to get the bent end or pin of the keeper (1 out of the socket 71, when it can be withdrawn from the bolt and the latter removed.
I claim:
Scissors provided with a pair of ivoted cutting members having recesses on t ieir inner faces around their pivotal connection, and a pair of separate and independent s )rings seated within said recesses, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at Dusseldorf, Germany this sixth day of September 1907.
J OIIANN FEINENBURG.
