SpeciiicationV of Letters Patent.
I Patented Aug. 4, 1908.
i t I `Application 1ed April 22, 1908. Serial No. 428,553.
To all whom it mayconcern; i l i Be it known that I, GEORGE KovAsIo, a
citizen of the United States, and a residentof Cambria, inthe county of Weston and State of Wyoming, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Work- Boxes, of which the following is a specification. A
The invention relates to improvements in work-boxes of that description whichare used by women to hold the implements and otherv appurtenances used in sewing.
It has for its objecttheprovision of a device that will hold such articlesso as to be ready and convenient for use. It consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts', such as will be hereinafter fully described, pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the .accompanying drawings.-
In the drawings, in which similar reference characters designate corresponding partsf Figure l is a perspective view of a work-box embodying the invention, the lid being open. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view showing one of the transverse partitions. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view, showing one of the transverse partitions in a raised position.
The closure 1s of a rectangular box-formation and comprises the body part 4 and the In one end of the body part is the Vlixed transverse artition 6 forming between the same and t e end-wall 7 the i compartment 8. Extending between the transverse partition 6 and the opposite endwall 9 are the longitudinal partitions 10. At intervals in the longitudinal partitions are the angularslotsll` having at their inner ends the bearings 12. Mounted in these bearings are the rods 13 for carrying the spools of thread. VThe rods can be'easily Vplaced in their bearings by passing them through the angular slots. 'The latter,- by reason of their angularshape, prevent an accidental displacement of the rods. l
At the end of the main body of the workbox in which is fixed the transverse partition 6 is the removable transverse partition 14 extending across the ends of the longitudinal partitions 10, thereby forming the' eompartments 15. In the latter are the removable Vdrawers 17 The partition 14 is provided with slots 18 to register with the vertical parts of the angular slots 11l in the adjacent ends of the longitudinal partitions 10. When in place the partition 14 holds in place the rod mounted in the angular slots with which the partition registers. By displacing the partition the rod can be readily removed. While only one removable partition is shown, yet
it is obvious that others may be provided for the other rods. A supplemental lid 19, hinged to the body part, is provided for the compartments 6 and 15. The inside of the lid 5 may be provided with a mirror or other ornamentation.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is, p
1. In a work-box, the body art, partitions in said body part having angu ar slots, spoolholding rods removably mounted in said slots, and a removable partition registering Withsaid slots.
2. In a work-box, the body part, transverse partitions in one end of said body art forming compartments, a supplementa lid for said compartments, longitudinal partitions extending froml said transverse partitions to the other end of said body part having angular slots, and spool-holding rods mounted in said slots.
In testimony whereof I hereunto alix my signature in the presenceof two Witnesses.
GEORGE KOVASIC.
