Be it known that I, FRITZ FRowEIN, a citizen of the German Empire, residing at Barmen, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Incandescent Mantles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in double incandescent mantles for incandescent light of particular strength and its object is to provide a mantle composed of an inner and an outerportion interlaced with each other in such way that the threads of the said inner portion are conspicuous through the interstices of the outer portion, to do away with the disadvantage appearing in similar mantles heretofore in use where theincandescence of the inner mantle was greatly impaired by the threads of the outer mantle covering those of the former, my improved structure insuring by this way a greater brilliancy and at the same time the strength and greater durability of the double mantle arrangement used before.
In describing my said invention I refer to the drawing herewith in which the structure of my improved double-mantle is shown on an enlarged scale, Figure 1 being a general diagram of the weave, Fig. 2 a section on the line 2-2, Fig. 3 another section, on the line 83, Fig. 4 another section, on the line 44 and Fig. 5 a section on the line 55 of Fig. 1.
My incandescent mantle is a double weave composed of two independent foundation webs which are at intervals connected with each other by interlaced meshes or crossings of threads of one web with those of the other, the two webs being so disposed in their relative position that the threads of one web donot cover those of the other so that those of the inner web are exhibited through the interstices of the outer web.
I am aware that incandescent mantles have been patented which are composed of two entirely independent hoods which are in some way secured to each other. In my invention, however, the two foundation webs are as aforesaid united by passing threads of one of the said webs-through the open'spaces of the other, so that the threads of the inner hood are exhibited through the open spaces of the outer fabric, the result being that the volume of light issued from the inner hood is not impaired by the threads of the outer fabric nor are any of the advantages offered. by the double fabric in any way reduced.
I claim:
A double incandescent mantle comprising the combination of two independent foundation webs connected with each other at intervals by interlacing meshes or crossings of thread, the two webs being so disposed in their relative position that the threads of one web are conspicuous through the interstices of the other.
