NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE SULFOSOL COMPANY, A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
NE CKTIE-MAKER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July '7', 1908.
Application filed. November 13, 1907. Serial No. 402,012.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Louis C. WEDGEFUTi-i, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Makers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in the class of articles set forth in my U. S. patent application 392,942, filed 14 Sept. 1907. Such improvements are set forth in the following specification and claim and illustrated in the annexed drawing in which Figure 1 shows a necktie maker and holder embodying this invention. Fig. 2 shows the necktie holder of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows a modification. -Fig. 4 shows the holder of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 shows another modification. Fig. 6 shows the holder of Fig. 5.
In this drawing is shown a pair of arms I) having a stem 0 extended to a point below the tie or knot ortion of the neck wear. Such stem has a cop or eye or suitable attaching point at its lower end to enga e a loop m of elastic or other suitable materia This loo in turn is connected to or held by the col ar button and holds the lower end of the stem or the tie below the arms 1) toward the person or bosom of the wearer. A neat fit or sitting for the tie is secured by this device.
This tie maker and holder is adapted for a turn down collar but by providing the arms with clips 9 Fig. 3 such clips engaging or straddling the lower edge of an upright collar will hold the tie maker or attachment in posi- These clips 9 formed of a piece of wire bent in the shape of a serpentine or wave like configuration allow the lower edge of the collar to be inserted between said convolutions so that the arms I) cannot slip u in front or rear of the collar.
As seen in Flgs. 5 and 6 the device can be provided with a pin '5. This pin portion has its point part free to pierce into the tie and to be snapped to the body of the device in the manner of a brooch. A clasp portion k can also be applied to sit over or about the tie and such clasp can be ornamented in suitable way by plating, by stones or otherwise.
The form of device shown in Fig. 5 is more adapted to the kind of neckwear used in connection with a ladys dress or shirtwaist and can be made to take the place of a breast in. The device can be made of wire, metal, ce luloid or other suitable material.
The device shown in Fig. 4 can be made from a single piece of wire bent to form clips at one side, then to form arms I), and bent further to form the set of clips g at the opposite side of the device, the end of the wire being then doubled and curled about one oi" the arms I) and then bent downwardly to form a stem 0.
In Fig. 6 the piece of wire is longer to pro vide a clasp 7c, the wire being thence bent in the serpentine form to provide the clip 9 at the left, thence extending horizontally to the right as in Fig. 4, and then extending back and curling about the arm I) at the right hand side of the article, the Wire being extended downwardly at the center to form a loo ed stem 0 and then proceeding toward the eft along the left-hand arm I) to the corresponding clip g, the end of the wire being finally doubled to form the shank or pin i.
WVhat I claim is 1. A neck tie maker comprising arms with a stem made to extend below the tie or knot portion and having a loop to engage a collar button and hold the tie below the arms toward the person or bosom of the wearer, said arms having clip portions for engaging an edge of a collar.
2. A neck tie maker comprising arms with a stem, a pin and a clasp portion having one end free to engage or be released from the arms.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing
