HOLDER FOR CANDLES AND ORNAMEN'IS ON CHRISTMAS-TREES.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame;

To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that I, GUSTAV ANTON, of the city of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improved Holder for Candles and Ornaments on Christmas-Trees;- and I do hereby declarethe following to be a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures and letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in combining with a candle-holder for Christmas-trees a series of receptacles for small flags, or other similar light ornaments.

Aside from the convenience which this arrangement of receptacles ofi'ers for distributing a variety of orna ments over a Christmas-tree, it has the great advantage of placing these adornments in a proximate position to the lights supported in the same holders, whereby the decorative effect of the ornaments is greatly increased.

In the following description of my invention, reference is had to the annexed drawings, in which similar letters of reference allude to like parts throughout the several views, and in which- Figure l is a sectional elevation of my improved candle and ornament-holder, and

Figure 2 is a plan of the same.

The holder consists of three parts the elastic socket A, for holding the candle; the dripping-cup B, and pin 0, projecting through the bottom and serving as 6 e are the sockets provided in the cup B.

These sockets converge radially from the centre of the cup, and are shown in the drawing as supports for self-evidently be used for suspending any light ornaments of suitable description.

As a very cheap mode of forming these sockets e e in the cup B, I avail myself of the puckering tendency which the disk of metal has in being stamped up intov the cup-shape, by drawing the surplus metal into a number of radial grooves. These grooves are afterward contracted at the bottom, and thus shaped into small sockets available for thedescribed purpose.

- It will be readily understood that these sockets, or any equivalent receptacles, may be formed or provided on the candle-holder in various ways for the same object, and although I have adopted the described cheap myself to this particular arrangement of detail; nor do I claim as new and original the use of a pin or needle for securing the candle-holder in place; but
