Application filed December 7, 1906.
To all 'whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOHN M. BIGGs, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Glasgow, in the county of Barren and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lVatchcases, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in watch cases, being in the nature of a calendar watch case adapted to be'carried in the pocket, and having a special construction of relatively movable devices whereby the'calendar will be a perpetual one, and may be shifted from time to time if necessary in order to serve the purpose of a pocket calendar and the invention consists in certain novel constructions and combinations of parts as will be hereinafter described and claimed.

The case sectionA may in general respects be of ordinary construction, being hinged at B and suitably adapted at O to be snapped closed, as is usual in watch cases. In its outer face the case A is provided with a circular recess a concentric with the case and of sufficient size and depth to receive the disk D, which disk D has a central opening d to receive the pin e of the securing device E, the latter having a head or cap plate E', as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 5.
The disk D 'fits in the recess a and coincides at its outer side with the outer side or face of the case A and the securing device E has its pin e passed through the opening d of the disk D and is soldered or otherwise secured at its inner end to the case A thus without involving any perforation of the case A. The cap or head E may be decorated in any suitable manner and the disk D subdivided on its outer face adjacent to its edge into seven divisions in which are produced by engraving or otherwise the days of the week. These subdivisions of the disk D correspond to and may be turned into coincidence with the seven subdivisions A on the Specification of Letters Patent.

These subdivisions A and the series of igures therein are preferably produced by `enamel a on the watch lid itself, the 'figures being cut into the lid and filled with colored enamel. This is an important feature as it enables the production of the subdivisions and numerals on the lid in such manner as to roduce a highly ornamental effect which wil be durable and not easily marred in use.
By the described construction I produce a watch case or lid having a central concentric recess in which is pivoted to turn a disk having seven subdivisions D containing the days of the week in proper successions, the said disk turning in register with the series of subdivisions A on the outer face of the lid and containing the numerals of the months in successions of seven with the initials of each series progressing numerically so that the disk may be turned to set any one of the days of the week into register with any desired subdivision of the case so that if the months begins on Sunday, the word Sunday should be turned into register with the subdivision A beginning with the `figure 1, as shown 4in Fig. 1 of the drawing. As shown and preferred the )artition A having the initial 1 is preferabiy arranged immediately adjacent to the stem F of the watch case.
The outer face of the cap E may be utilized to receive any desired ornament or emblem and being fixed relatively to the case will preserve its position when applied as This head E may be made very thin as no particular strain is exerted thereon and maybe let in Hush with the outer face of the disk D so that the outer faces of the case A, disk D and head or cap E may coincide, as best shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing.
In producing the 'figures and subdivisions on the watch case they may be cut in and enameled in colors and thus be made to produce a very ornamental effect.
I claim A Watch case lid or section having in its outer face a circular recess and provided around said recess with a series of seven subdivisions each having a series of numerals in aritlirnetical progression of seven With the initial numerals of the seven series in numerical order, said numerals being produced by enamel in and Hush with the outer face of the case section or lid7 a disk iitting and turning Within. the recess in the case and having on its outer face at its edge a series of seven subdivisions arranged to register with the subdivisions on the case section or lid and having' in said subdivisions of the disk the naines of the days of the Week, and a fastening device having a pin projecting through the disk and secured to the lid or case section and forming a pivot for the disk and a cap or head at the outer end of' the pin and overlying the disk, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
