Specification of Letters Patent.

tles, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to liquid containers, and more particularly to siphonbottles.
It has for its object to provide a bottle adapted to contain an aerated or carbonated liquid, dischargeable by the pressure of the gas contained therein, and being transform- ;able into a bottle suited to be used for any ordinary liquid, which is poured or decanted from the bottle in the usual manner.
The present invention consists of a bottle having a tube within the same, which niay be integral with the walls of the bottle, and
extends down into the bottle from the neck near to the bottom of the same. A faucet,
comprising two independent valves, is socured to the bottle, and one discharge passage of this faucet coincides with the tube, while another registers with a comparatively larger outlet of the bottle. The two valves being independent, the contents of the bottle may be discharged through any of the outlets, as the nature of the liquid may require.
The invention is illustrated in. the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation, partly in section, of a bottle constructed according to the present invention and Fig. 2 a horizontal cross section on line 22 of Fig. 1.
1, in Fig. 1, designates a hollow body or bottle, made of non-metallic or vitreous material, such as glass, having a neck 2, provided with screw-threads 2. A deliverytube 3, integral with and extending along the wall of the bottle from the neck to near the bottom thereof, is provided, dividing the outlet openings 4 and 5.
the neck of the bottle into two independent passa es or outlets 4 and It will be observed that the outlet 5 is comparatively larger in proportion to the outlet 4 of the tube 3, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.
An aperturedwasher 6 of resilient material is placed upon the outlet of the neck 2, having two apertures 7 and 8, corresponding to The aperture 7 coincides with the outlet opening 4, while the aperture 8 registers with the larger outlet 5 of the bottle. 7
A siphon-head or faucet 9, having inner screw-threads corresponding to the threads 2 of the neck 2, is secured by means of these threads to the neck ot'the bottle, and holds the washer 6 iirmlyin place, causing a perfect contact between the neck and the siphonhead, and, therefore, a as-and water-tight closure of the bottle. T e siphon-head com prises two independent passages, i. c. the spout 10 and the outlet- 11, the former registering with the aperture 7 and thelatter with the aperture 8.
12 and 13 designate two independent operating plugs, allowing of closing or opening communication between the tube 3 and the spout 10' and the larger outlet of the neck and its corresponding outlet passage 11. The plug 125 is rotatablysecured to thcsiplionhead by means ol a screw 13, and carries a cover 14, suited to open or close the mouth of the outlet 11. when the plug is rotated to open and close this outlet.
Each of the plugs l2 and 13 comprises a passage, loading at right angles to the axis of the plug. By means of these passages communication is opened between the tube 3 and the spout 10, and the larger outlet 5 of the bottle and its corresponding outlet 11, respectively, when the passages are in line with the spout 1S) and outlet 1 1., respectively. it is obvious that this bottle may be used a siphon-bottle as well-as for a container for any suitable liquids. In cleaning siphonhottlcs'thc siphon head is usually removed, while in a bottlc, constructed according to the present invention, this will not become necessary. The bottle may be thoroughly cleaned through the larger outlet o ening 11, without removing the siphon-head and it is obvious that both plugs may be opened, so
' as to morcv readily admit the water.
When the bottle is lillcd with an acraicd or carbonated liquid, it is discharged through the spout H) by opening the communication between the tube 4 and the spout 10 by means oi" the plug 12, while when lillcd with any other not-aerated liquid, it is discharged through the larger passage 11. in lillin; or emptying the bottle in'casc ol' not-arr: led liquids, both plugs may be opened, so as to admit air when em tying the bottle and open a assa e for t e air contained in the bottle w en filling the same.
As new and useful is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States:
1. Aliquid container, comprising, in combination, a hollow body, a tube Within the same integralzwith and extending alon the Walls thereof, a faucet secured to said ody and having two independent passages, two independent valves in said faucet and adapted to close or open said passages.
2. A liquid container, comprising, in combination, a hollow body, a tube within the 5 same and integral with and extending alon the Wall thereof, a faucet secured to sai body and having two independent passages, two rotatable valves in said faucet and adapted to close and open said passages.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York, and State of New York, this sixteenth day of February, A. D. 1907.
