A TTOFAIEXJ' ERNST MEYER, OF SGHNEVERDING-EN, GERMANY.
' APPARATUS FOR DRAWING PERSPECTIVE VIEWS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented. May 19, 1908.
Application filed September 13, 1907. Serial No. 392,722.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNST MEYER, a sub ject of the King of Prussia, residing at Schneverdingen, in the Kingdom of Prussia and German Empire, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Apparatus for Drawing Perspective Views, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to a drawing apparatus by which perspective views can be projected from a plan and corresponding elevation.
The chief feature of the apparatus is that one of the pivots affording guidance for the pencil, or the like, coincides with the point at which the lines of projection from the plan and elevation cut each other. This pivot can for example be attached to a vertical double winged frame, which can be moved in all directions over the plan view, for which purpose a pointer or the like is provided vertically underneath the cutting point of the lines of projection.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating my invention Figure 1 is a plan on the line CD in Fig. 2, Fig. 2, a longitudinal section on AB in Fig. 1, Fig. 3, a cross section on E- F in Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a detail view on an enlarged scale of part of the apparatus.
The drawing board a, attached by hinges to the box I), is secured in a horizontal plane, while the vertical board 0, which is also hinged to the box I), is secured at a right angle to the board a by a clamp (Z. The elevation drawing is to be fastened to the frame 0, hinged atf to a second leaf which is hinged at g to the box b. To the outer vertical edge of this frame is secured the pointer 72, vertically over which is provided the vertically pivoted guide 'L, attached to the T-square 7c, which is adapted to be moved up and down and secured in any desired position on said frame. To the vertical bar Z, carried by the arms m and n, is fastened a pivot 0, representing the eye of the observer. Both the pivot 0 and a second pivot p adapted to be moved vertically are rounded off and are adapted to carry the bar g which theoretically represents the course of the light entering the eye of the observer. At the right end of this bar the pencil 1' is attached, in any suitable manner, which presses against the board 0. The arm 9 can be moved vertically in the frame t, in order to draw the vertical lines, the pointer hlbeing held fast on the desired point of the an. P In using the apparatus one proceeds as follows: After the plan has been fastened on the board a and the elevation of the surface of the frame c facing the eye pivot 0 by means of drawing pins, the T-square 7r is adjusted to the desired height on the elevation (Fig. 3) and the pointer ft moved over the corresponding line of the plan (Figs. 1 and 2). In so doing the corresponding perspective view is drawn on the board 0 by the pencil 1'. By attaching the pencil to the opposite end of the bar 1 the apparatus can be used for producing reduced perspective views.
W' hat I. claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. Apparatus for projecting perspective views from a plan and elevation, comprising in combination, two boards disposed at right angles to each other, a fixed eye pivot, a
pointer adapted. to be moved over the planon one of said boards, means for carrying the pointer, a second pivot vertically over said pointer and also carried by said means, an
arm carried by said pivots, and a pencil attached to the end of said arm, substantially as, and for the purpose, set forth.
2. Apparatus for projecting perspective views from a plan and elevation, comprising in combination, two boards disposed at right angles to each other, a fixed eye pivot, a double pivoted frame whose outer edge is adapted to be moved over the plan on one of said boards, a pointer attached to the edge of said frame, a pivot attached to the edge of said frame verticz lly over said pointer, an arm carried by said pivots, and a pencil attached to said arm, substantially as, and for the purpose, set forth.
3. Apparatus'for projecting perspective views from a plan and elevation, comprising in combination, two boards disposed at right angles to each other, a fixed eye pivot, a pointer adapted. to be moved over the plan on one of said boards, means for carrying the pointer, a second pivot vertically over said pointer and also carried by said means, means to vertically adjust said second pivot to different heights of the elevation drawing, an arm carried by said pivots and a pencil attached to said arm, substantially as, and for the purpose, set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 24th day of August, 1907, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ERNST MEYER.
