ATTACHMENT TO THE CAPS OF WIND-STACKERS OF THRESHING-MACHINES.
Application filed. February 26, 1908.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HENRY P. Vorn and EDWARD SIEBRASSE, each of whom is a citizen of the United States, and each ol" whom resides in the township of Featherstone, in the county of Goodhue and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Invention in Attachments to the Caps of ind- Stackers of Threshing-Machines, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to the separation of dust, rust and dirt from straw in stacking of same, and improved facility in stacking the straw which will be explained herein. \Ye attain this object by the mechanism which will be illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which- Figure 1 shows our device attachedv to cap of threshing machine as in use in connection therewith. Fig. 2 is a view showing how the device is attached to the cap. Fig. 3 shows a section of the three ditl'erent parts which in combination with the cap ol the stacker tube constitute our invention.
Similar letters refer throughout the several views.
There is no wood about our invention as all the parts are galvanized steel.
In Fig. 3 the lower drawingfis a section of the inner band which is about 1i,- inches wide #16 gage, bent in a semicircle to correspom to the outside of the lower part of the cap of the stacker tube. end to end is about to similar parts The distance across irom 18 inches, and on said band f is a crimp or fold a that is bent lorwards as shown in Fig. 3. The part 9 shown in Fig. 3 is a section of the outer band which is about 1 inch in width, bent in a semi circle to correspond with and lit over the inner bandf, and cl on said band g is one of a series of l'lutings on the inner side of said band 9 into which a series of steel wires are placed, which wires are bent in form shown in Fig. 3. of ilutings in said outer band g corresponding to the number of wires 6 to be fitted. therein. And a above mentioned is one of the several wires shown in Fig. 3 and bent in form shown therein. Each of said wires is not quite ft, of an inch thick. being about 10 inches in a series of 13 pairs length, comprising Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 12, 1908.
Serial No. 417,943.
l 11 l l l l with wires 0, fitted There are about 26 wires, each wire bent in form shown in Fig. 3, and said 26 wires are an inch apart. These wires 6 are placed in llutings (Z, the tops of the wires extending over tops of the [lutings in band 9 preventing them from slipping downwards, and the upper part or bend oleach set of said wires rests against the crimp or lold a shown on inner b and], and thereby prevented from slipping upwards. Band 9 is placed on the outside ol band f below fold or crimp a, the wires 0 are litted into llutings on the inside of band g, the bend or top of wires e extending over the top of the ilutings and resting against fold or crimp a of said band g, the bands are riveted together, 1) showing a series of rivet holes [or that purpose, and this device so riveted together, is attached to the cap ol' the stacker tube by bolts 0 shown in Fig. 2.
The following explanation is necessary i order that the usefulness of our invention may be understood. In stacking straw, the windstacker without our attachment to the hood or cap, does not separate dust rust and dirt from the straw, as the dust rust and dirt is blown together with the straw. The straw 'l'lies around so that one in stacking the straw cannot get close to the cap ol" the stacker tube and stack to advantage.
\Yith our attachment, the straw in leaving the stacker tube is blown against these wires 0, and by its weight falls leaving an opening between each wire and the dust, rust dirt, and small particles of chall' escape with the wind, and thus the straw may be stacked free from dust, rust dirt and small ,particles of chal'l', and in stacking the straw, one can get close to the cap of the stacker tube, and thus stack to great advantage.
hat we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,
In combination with the cap, of a stacker tube, the inner band f, with foldv or crimp a; the outer b and g, provided with the llutings (1, into said ilutings (I, said bands f and g riveted together, as described, and attached to the lower part of the cap of the stacker tube substantially as described.
