10 i lily invention relates to riding beet-culti- Vators, and particularly to the kind ol' cultivators known as four-row cultivators, and one of its objectsisj to provide new and iniproved wheel trame for such cultivators ca- 15 pable of being` easily disconnected for shipping or other purposes.
Another object is to provide a new and ini- .provcd' means by which the front. carrying Wheels can be adjusted laterally so as toI 2,0 travel between the rows a t difl` erent distances apart. l vAnother object ot' my invention is to provide new and 'improved means for tilting the gang frai'nes carrying the cultivating applito the carryingl frame.- Another object of my invention is to provide new and improved lever mechanism for raising and lowering the gang iraines,either together or independently of one another.
My invention has for a further object the y'in iproveinent ofsuch cultivators in sundry details hereinafter pointed out.

Referring to the drawings-thvfront or carrying frame olA the machine is coin )osed oi a front bar 12 and rear bar 13 and a race bar 14 secured to the bars 12 and 13. The frame. is also braced by other parts hereinafter pointed out.
15 indicates hangers, which are bifurcated at their lower ends to receive the forward ends ot' the draw-bars hereinafter described. The brackets 15 are bolted or otherwise secured to the front cross-bar 12 ing frame.
16 indicates braces, which are bolted 0r otherwise secured at their forward ends to the lower part of the hangers 15 and extending diagonally upward and backward are' bolted or otherwise secured at their rear ends to the rear cross-bai' 13, serving to brace .the hangers 15.
17 indicates a tongue, which is mounted preferably by a suitable bracket 18 on the front bar 12 to which it is braced by brace-rods 19 whose forward ends are bolted or otherwise fastened to the tongue 17, and which extending diagonally outward and backward are secured at their rearward ends to the outer pair of brackets 15, preferably by hai/ing their rear ends bent andinserted through suitable openings in the brackets and held in place by cotter-pins 20.
21 indicates brackets, which are provided at their front ends with a shoulder 22 adapted to be removably bolted to the front bar 12 and at their rear ends with a'clip 2.3 adapted to be secured upon the-rear bar.18 and locked in place by a bolt 2 l.

28 indicates brackets, which are fastened by clips, or in any other appropriate manner, to the rear cross-bar 13 near the center thereof, and are provided with downwardextending arms 29 which are recessed at their lower ends, as best shown in Fig. 3. -The brackets 27-23 are provided with suitables 'aft hreinafter described.
30 indicates a truss-rod whose outer ends are bolted or otherwise secured to the brackets 27, and which bears against'the arms 29 of the brackets 28 in the notched lower ends thereof.
31 indicates hounds, the forward ends of which rest above and are secured to the cross-bar 12 and which ass beneath the rear bar 13, secured thereto y clips 32, or in any other appropriate manner.
33 indicates seat-bars, whose forward ends are bolted to the hounds 3l and which extend o eninvs which act as a journal for the rockba'ckward, coming closer together as they appreach their rear ends'in which is mounted a sleeve 34 which su ports the upright spindle of the caster-whee 35 so as to permit the caster-wheel to turn freely in said sleeve. The caster-wheel and its spindle are of ordinary .and well-known form and description and need no further descri tion here.

37 indicates the carrying wheels, which are mounted upon a spindle 33 provided with an upright portion 39 which is journaled in the sleeve 25, as best shown in Fig. 6.

and 4. The other arm of each bell-crank lever extends laterally outward and is provided at yits end with a foot-rest 48. It will be obvious that the driver by the pressurepf the foot upen one or the other of the footrests 48 will cause the bell-crank levers to 1ock,"moving`the arm 45 laterally to one side or the other, and thus angling the wheels, as is best shown in Fig, 4. By looseniner the bolts by which the forward ends of the brackets 21 are secured to the front frame and the bolts by which the inner ends of the braces 26 are secured to the rear cross-bar 12, and by loosening the cli s 24, the brackets 21 may be moved inwardls) .towards and away from the center ofthe hachine and locked in any desired position, the front and rear bars receiving a number of erforations for the insertion of the bolts. y this means the wheels may be laterally adjusted towards or away from each other to suit different widths.
It will be obviousfrom the above descri tion that by unfastening the bolts by whici the seat-beam is secured to the hounds the seatalso that the wheels may be readilyI removed if desirable, for convenience of shipment or otherwise. v

if ln a cultivator, the combination with a front frame consisting of two vparallel transversc bars, brace bars and hounds secured to said cross-bars, wheel carrying brackets carried by said cross-bars and adjustable. laterally thereon, of a rearwardly-ergtending seat support removably secured to said hounds, downwardly-extending hangers sc,- cured to said front frame, a gang-carrying frame, and draw-bars mounted on said gangcarrying frame. and pivotally secured at their. l'ront ends to said hangers.
2. ln a cultivator, the combination with a` carrying frame, a gang frame, and draw-bar connections between said gang frame and said carrying frame, a pair ol rockfsliafts having rock arms at their outer ends and journaled in ysaid carr fing frame, link connections between saidy rock arms and `the outer ends of 'said gang frame, a segment secured to said gang frame, a lever pivoted to said segment,v a connection between said' lever and one of said rock arms,.a second segment rigidly mounted 0n said lever, 'a

4. `In a cultivator, the. combination with a carrying frame, a gang frame., and draw-bars connecting said gang frame and said :carrying frame, ofl a p'airof'rock-shafts journaled in sa'idcarrying frame and having rock arms at their outer ends, link connections bei-wt-ny said rock arms and the outer ends offsaid/ gang frame, and lever mechanism adapted to either rock said rock-shafts simultaneously to one of said cross-bars, and braces connector independently.

In a cultivator7 the combination with a carrying frame, a gang frame and drawebars connecting said gang frame with said carrying frame, of a pair of rck-shafts journaled in said carrying frame and having rock arms at their outer ends, link connections between said rock arms and the outer ends of said gang rame,-a swinging lever carried by said carrying frame and connected with one of said rock-shafts, and mechanism' connected with said lever and with `the other of said rock shafts, whereby both the said rockshafts may be rocked simultaneously.
6.1In a cultivator, a carrying frame consisting of two parallel transverse bars, brace bars, hounds secured to said carrying bars, wheel-supporting brackets carried by said transverse bars and Aadjustable laterally thereon, a rearwardly-extending seat-support removably secured to said hounds and V having a caster Wheel su ported at its outer end7 downwardly-depen ing hangers secured lng the lower ends of said hangers with the other of said crossbars- 7. ln a cultivator, the combination with a carrying frame, wheel-supporting brackets mounted in said carrying frame and adjustable laterally thereon, vertically-disposed sleeves secured to said brackets', wheel spindles having vertical portions journaled in said sleeves, carrying wheels mounted on said Wheel spindles, rearwardly extending arms rigidly secured to said wheel spindles below said sleeves, a cross-bar pivotally connected at its ends with saidirearwardlyextendingr bars, bell-crank levers mounted on said carrying frame and having forwardlyextending arms pivotally connected to. said cross-bar and having foot-rests on their laterally-extending arms.
