Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GASTON LAOOMME, on NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR or ONE-HALF TO EDWARD o. EUSTAGE, or NEW YORK, N. Y.
AMUSEMENT APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 3, 1908.
Application filed December 30, 1907. Serial No. 408M161.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GAsToN LAOOMME, a citizen of France, residing at New York city, Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Amusement Apparatus, of
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an amusement apparatus consisting essentially of a barrel that incloses a suitable number of platforms 1 improved amusement apparatus, and Fig. 2
an end view thereof.
A pair of flanged rings are connected by a series of longitudinal rods 11 to constitute a cylindrical horizontal open-work barrel of a size to accommodate several groups of passengers. Rings 10run on a track 12 which is provided with one or more inclined sections 13, so that the barrel is propelled by ravity. It is preferred to hold the barre to the track especially at the curves, by means of guards 14 flanking the track and adapted to be engaged by buffers 15 centered in rings 10 by radial braces 16.
\Vithin the barrel are secured to rods 11, by means of rings 11 a number of circular tracks 17 which are set back from rings 10 and are so arranged that each of the tracks is eccentric to the barrel. As shown, the barrel is provided near each end with four such tracks located within the quadrants of the barrels cross section, the several tracks on one end being alined with the corresponding tracks on the other end. Each pair of longitudinally alined tracks 17 is adapted for the support of an open-work frame con sisting of a pair of end rings 18 provided with flanged rollers 19 traveling on .tracks 17. The two rings 18 of each frame. are connected with each other by a base plate or platform 20 which may be weighted at its bottom as at 21 and upon which are mounted a number of seats 22.
When the barrel is propelled along track 12, the passengers occupying seats 22 will not only travel forward with the barrel, but they will also circle around its center, as in a revolving swing, each platform always maintaining its horizontal position. In this way a pleasing and healthful exercise is insured, with free access of light and air to the passengers.
I claim:
1. An amusement apparatus composed of a rotatable open-work barrel, a pair of longitudinally alined eccentric tracks within the same, and a frame having rollers at each end for engaging the tracks, substantially as specified.
2. An amusement apparatus composed of a rotatable open-work barrel, eccentric circular tracks within the same, rings having rollers engaging the tracks, and platforms connecting the rings, substantially as specified.
3. An amusement apparatus composed of a rotatable open-work barrel, eccentric circular tracks within the same, rings having rollers engaging the tracks, platforms connecting the rings, seats mounted on the platforms, and weights below the platforms, substantially as specified.
4. An amusement apparatus composed of a pair of flanged end rings, a track engaged thereby, longitudinal rods connecting the rings, eccentric circular tracks connected to the rods, and frames movable upon the circular tracks, substantially as specified.
5. An amusement apparatus composed of a rotatable open-work barrel, eccentric circular tracks within the same, frames movable upon said tracks, guards flanking the barrel, and buffers on the barrel that engage said guards, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at New York city, Manhattan, N. Y., this 28th day of December,
4 GASTON LACOMME.
