a citizen of the United States, and a resident ofv Macdonaldton, in the county of Somerset and Stateof Pennsylvania, have invented 'a new and Improved Wire-Susending Device, of which the following is a iiill, clear, and exact description.
The invention relates to Wire sus ending devices such as shown and described in the Letters Patent of the United States, No.
741,563, granted to Herbert E. Stevens and BurtGellatly, on October 13, 1903.
The object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved wire suspend- Zing device which is simple and durable in construction, easily applied, and more especially designed for use in mine and other places, for suspending "and securely retaining m position the feeder or trolley wire of an electri'bhaulage device or the like.
The invention consists of novel features and parts and combinations of the same,
whichwill be more fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims.
A practical embodiment of theiinvention' is represented in the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

The members I and J of the wire Suspendingfdevic'e. shown in the drawing are-made ha tubular and wed e-shaped, to allow of sliding the member e on the member I, both members being ada ted to engage a socket C bored, out or 'ot erwise formed in the roof of a mine or other place on which the device is to be used. The member I is provided near its upper base end with a re cessed lug L for engagement by the notched portion N of a bolt N. The bolt N is provided at its lower end with a Screw thread N for engaging the insulated support vor hanger for the trolley or feed wire with a view to Suspend the same below the roof I of the mine. V
In using the device the member I, with the bolt N suspend ed therefrom, is placed in osition in the socket 0 and then the mem er J is moved lengthwise along the member I into the socket C as to engage one side of the wall thereof and by its wedge shape force the other member I against the' opposite wall of the socket while it securely clampsthe members I and J in position in the socket C. By reference to the drawings it will be seen that the bolt N depends'from the lower apex end of the member I, so that any desired pull on the bolt N causes a tightening of the members I and J in the socket. CT; and consequently there is no danger of the wire suspending device becoming loose in the socket.
From the foregoing it will seen that. by the arrangement described the wire suspending device is exceedingly serviceable for trolley lines having sharp curves and in which the strain against the trolley wireis considerable during the travel of a car around the curve.
It will also be noticed that by the arrangement described com aratively small holes or I or member I "so as to release the member I from the member J and allow of sliding the latter out of the socket C,'and then the member I carrying the bolt N. I

Having thus described my invention, I
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A wire suspending device com rising a wedge-shaped half tubular member, aving a recessed lug at the inside near the upper or base end, a-separable bolt held on and depending from said lug, a second wedgeshaped half tubular member ca able of sliding on the first mentioned mem er, the said members being adapted to be inserted in a. socket, and the said second member when in position on the rst member partly surrounding the bolt but'out of engagement therewith.
2. A wire suspending device comprising a pair of wedge shaped tubular members adapted to be inserted in a socket and capabletc slide one on the other, one of the mem bers having a recessed lug, and a bolt having its shank recessed near'the upper end for en gagei'nent With the said recessed lug.
3. A Wire suspending device comprising a pair of Wedge-shaped tubular members:
adapted to be inserted in a'socket, and capa ble to slide one'on the other, one of the members being closed at its base end and pro vided near this end with a recessed lug, and a bolt having its shank recessed near the upper end for engagement with the said recessed lug.
